BATMAN V SUPERMAN (Dragonlord's Review, post #1)

If you have seen BATMAN V SUPERMAN, how would you rate it?

To me I felt they fucked up Batman and pissed in his character's face. He was branding people with a bat so they would get fucked up in prison. He couldn't figure out he was getting manipulated. I didn't like the bale voice but the constantly malfunctioning voice changer pissed me off. Also Batman kills without giving a fuck. He has the rule. The Dark Knight was a movie pretty much based around Batman and him possibly breaking his one rule. Fuck this movie. I may finish it one day. I'd rather watch the Watchmen.

Yeah I gave a long list in the original bvs thread and got accused of being a fanboy. Nope just a regular dude able to see all the plot holes.

I love batman and I love superman. Like I wanted a movie with both of them in it to be mediocre.
I definitely see more of lean towards Batman due to the previous films.
They should've given it time, trying to compete with Marvel and blowing their load prematurely was bad.

Just seen Suicide Squad, what a piece of shit the bad guys were in that! Make the Doomsday everyone's crying about look amazing!!! That being said I still enjoyed the movie because the squad themselves were pretty cool and Joker and Harley make two hours of wasted screen time worth the twenty minutes they're given! I wish they would do a Natural Born Killers style comic movie with Harley and The Joker just rollin around killin anyone and everyone but that would some how give all you critics something to cry about too!!! No pleasing the cinephile pussies when it comes to the comic book genre, no way at all

More holes than swiss cheese.
  • If WW used the spear, Superman might be still alive. She is after all better at using melee weapons and all that stuff
  • Louis Lane was a decent strong female lead in Man of Steel, here she's full damsel in distress tard' (throws the spear in the lake beneath the castle, comes back later on and is stuck under rubble, Superman has to waste time to bail her out)
  • Kryptonian tech ain't as advanced as well thought it was if it couldn't tell the difference between a guy with taped on fingerprints and the real dude
  • US gubbermint believes Superman needs to use guns, lol. And with all the drone strikes used (and the one they even sent out), why would they give a shit about a bunch of dead terrorists anyways?
There's prob more, but that comes up at the top of my head

She may be better with melee weapons but she was getting beat by a weakened Doomsday (Kryptonite gas), she most likely would have had to sacrifice herself ala Superman to finish Doomsday and Supes is too selfless to let that happen.

I agree Lois came to represent the feminine much like Martha and became a plot device in many places (lady of the lake in order to draw more Excalibur parallels).

Luthor is the most brilliant scientist in the world, this ain't post Reagan era reimaginining of Luthor this is og Luthor mixed with the Birthright version. If anybody can figure our Kryptonian tech it is him.

Watch the Ultimate Cut the govt. Does not believe Superman used guns the whole bullet subplot was to hide the fact that mercenaries were amongst the warlord/rebels. As stated the burned bodies lead the military to believe Superman killed the terries to rescue Lois. Nobody was mad at Superman killing them they were questioning his unilateral action and the whole Senate hearing brought forth the question of an all powerful being picking and choosing who he decides to save.

Nolan's Batman killed multiple times no matter how hypocritically he pontificated about his so called 'no kill' rule.

I remember he let Ras die. I can't really remember him killing anyone else. I forgot what happens in Rising though. Too long of a movie.

I'm not a DC fanboy and I rather not overanalyze a movie, but sit back and enjoy what I can in the moment, then rip the movie later.

Some, who are either DC or Marvel fanboys went into the theater with the intention of ripping the movie if it didn't meet their exact expectations. And since every fanboy has different expectations, that pipedream is impossible to fullfill.

Does the movie has it's problems? Shit yeah it does. But do the things that were done well overshadow the problems? IMO, shit yeah it does.

The fact that this movie has the best Superman since Christopher Reeves, the best Batman since Michael Keaton, and the first time Wonder Woman has graced the silver screen (and Gal Gabbot knocked it out of the park) combined makes up for alot of the mistakes, and earns a 7/10 from me.

Then the extended version clarifies alot of the missing plot elements and pacing problems, earning it a 8.5/10.

If they had somehow given a better explanation than "MARTHA! WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME!" then it would have earned a 9/10 from me.

My man

And I am sure Supes was not intending for Doomsday to stab him in the chest. He did not see that one coming. He probably figure he suffer kryptonium poisoning for just a tad longer to get a quick sucker punch on Doomsday, and then get away. Plus Supes is very inexperienced and newbie in this reiteration.

I have to give Marvel credit: I think Civil War was almost the perfect super hero movie in that it gave to the fans characters the way the fans saw them. Or at least that's how I felt when watching it.

It was a fun movie but there were no stakes and thus the buildup never had me anticipate anything that happened next.

If you want an honest answer to your question, here are my reasons off the top of my head:

- Wonder Woman was completely extraneous to the plot. Remove her and nothing changes.
- Wonder Woman took away and distracted from the central theme of Batman vs Superman.
- Batman vs Superman was more than enough for a full movie on its own.
- Aquaman, Flash and Cyborg introduced by fucking e-mail attachment?
- So the only reason Batman and Wonder Woman ever hear of these people is because they were on Lex Luthor's hard drive?
- Jesse Eisenberg's performance.
- Why did you say that name?!??!?!?!
- Jesse Eisenberg's performance.
- Dream sequence inside a dream sequence.
- So Superman's ship can create the undead?
- So Lex Luthor dripping his blood into an alien jacuzzi turns dead Zod into Doomsday? WTF? Without hinting at any of this beforehand?
- Why is Luthor even doing any of the shit he is doing? Does anyone know?
- Jesse Eisenberg's performance.
- Never see Wonder Woman's lasso or know she has one until we cut to it already around Doomsday.
- Ding! Ding! Ding! He's coming!!!

Etc., etc.

I'm not interested in the movie and had no plans to watch it. After reading this, I'm going to extra not watch it

So hard.

Didn't he kill Heath Ledgers? Or maybe that's one of those silly things like he didn't technically kill him; he just let go of him and then gravity + the ground did him in.

He decidedly did not kill him and didn't let him fall to hit the ground either.

Nolan Batman kills:

League of Shadow assassins, blows up base, even if you try to logic your way into saying they all escaped, their were prisoners (the thief he refused to kill being one) who were tied up in the LoS headquarters.

Two Face

Two henchmen in the garbage truck he forces into a collision with the overpass.

Talia Al Ghul and her driver when he shoots up their truck.

If you write off the Talia and other henchmen in the garbage truck kills then you can do the same for Batflecks batwing kills. He takes care in the warehouse scene to use a jamming mechanism on the henchmen's guns, he shoots KGB's tank and not him purposefully.

Because it was boring and the character motivations made little sense at all. Lex Luthor wants Batman and Superman to fight because...something about his dad or something?

Batman is a goddamn idiot in this movie. The World Greatest Detective doesnt figure out the White Portuguese or whatever it was doesnt refer to a person until he sees a photograph. he wants to literally kill Superman for the dumbest reason of all time. "people died" right, because the WORLD would have ended if Superman didnt intervene you stupid fucktard.

At which point he, for some bizarre reason, starts fighting Superman and continuing to fight him because despite how obvious it is that Superman had no intention of killing him and is actually trying to tell him something. So he, being the genius detective he is, completely ignores it. until he finds out his mother has the same name. Now they're best buds.

Just not a good movie.

I went into BvS expecting awesomeness and left severely confused and disappointed. This was the movie that pretty much made me a stereotypical marvel fanboy

What do you mean by no stakes?

I loved the fact that the world didn't hang in the balance. Such a tired trope. It was refreshing to see the stakes were personal, imo.

Watched this last night. Found it incredibly boring and long-winded with some great special effects. That's about it. But I'm not a comic-book movie fan really.
