I was just about to post the same sentiment. It sounds like the extended edition is pretty widely being called a noticeably better film (with lots of ~6/10s being bumped to ~8/10s). I remember some of the early buzz was that people at WB were really impressed with the film, and I really think that must have been coming from the extended cut. And yet they then turn around and force it to have almost 20% hacked out? There must have been some sort of behind the scenes power struggle for something like that to be approved. And, in what would be a twist of irony, cutting it down so they could make more money off more shows-per-day created a worse movie that earns far less money.

Funny thing is that they announced the ultimate cut 1 week after the theatrical release. They knew they messed up.

Just watched the Extended cut. So much better. So much more concise, Luthor's plot is more convincing, the first half feels surprisingly more focused and less like a giant trailer for the 2nd half of the film.

I still think they couldhave made a 2 1/2 version of the film , but with the script they had, it was silly to remove so much. The theatrical version definitely feels almost like a special cut for basic cable version of the film.

this movie is a snooze fest riddled with horrible acting, script and lame ass action scenes

horrible acting:

- pretty much everyone, with jesse leading by a considerable amount (you can see that he wanted to have a memorable performance in vein of jack nicholson or heath ledger - but fails and his performance comes of as that of a spoiled kindergarten kid)
oh and ben affleck is also shit, especially in all of the scenes of some car chases where his face looks like he has a stick up his ass (this wasnt helped by the bad CGI in the background representing the whatever city said car chase was in) - also comes off as a wannabe mystical smart dude but ends up just that; wannabe

also butler alfred - that guy came off as a pompous twat and would make you believe he owns the wayne enterprise himself..

horrible script:

- first 2 hours there is some pointless action and a plot that is completely retarded and takes everything going on in the movie far seriously (compunded by the overly epic score in the moments when nothing of importance is happening)

lame ass action scenes:

- matrix 1 from 1999 has far superior fight scenes - you can actually see most stuntmen in fights just standing waiting on their turn, or superman/batman missing their punches by several inches..


oh and introduction of wonder woman as some kind of super model was also retarded

this movie brings nothing to either superman or batman characters - Man of steel and all of the previous batman movies are much much better than this

As I write this, I'm less than 20 minutes in watching the ultimate cut and the movies is already 40% less retarded. Whoever was in charge of editing, should get banned from ever stepping foot in an editing room. I wouldn't let him edit out a youtube "best of cute cats" compilation video.

Edit#2: Affleck&Irons shenanigans are scene stealers. These two are killing it. I'm getting a very strong James Bond-esque vibe from Bruce Wayne mode Affleck. Also... shower scene with Bat ASS.

Thought the movie started out alright, but then got progressively more moronic as it wore on (and never ended).

Not really a fan of Affleck as Batman, who by the way was portrayed as a complete retard in this movie.

Bunch of other negatives I won't bother to mention, as others already have.

At least Gal Gadot was cool as Wonder Woman, as long as she wasn't talking. I always said she'd make the role work. Really.

And the homages to Frank Miller were fun.

Overall a movie that kind of crashes and burns into a melodramatic mess, but at least it had ambition. At this point I wouldn't agree the Marvel franchise has as much of an advantage as some would have it. They're kind of running on empty right now. DC hasn't even gotten off the ground yet.

I give it a 5, slightly below the similarly themed Captain America: Civil War (6).

Winter Grunge and Civil Dispute dont have better acting either.

They have flat main actors except they have way more of them.

Robert Redford . . . Chris Evans (he is better as Human torch) . . . Black Snake Moan . . . Hurt Locker with a bow and Scarjo . . . Token Black Panther, and Birdboy . . . Winter Grunge himself . . .Frank Grillo . . . Spider Boy Meets World . . . They even had to bring in Marisa Tomei.

I'm about half way done with the ultimate cut and it is better in terms of pacing and explaining some stuff that didn't make sense before. But it still doesn't explain why the Jack guy at the Metropolis office of Wayne Enterprises is still in the building like an idiot while there's alien fight going outside the window. Henry Cavill's acting is still flat. Amy Adams and Ben Afflect act circles around him. This version of Alfred is badass though. I just want a stand alone Batman movie in this universe.

I started watching the movie around midnight/1 am so I couldn't watch the whole thing in one sitting but I'm looking forward to watching it today. A LOT of thinga get cleared, the movie makes much more sense. Had they used a similar version for the theatrical cut the critics wouldn't have destroyed it. For anyone having doubts- please, watch this. It's a whole nother ball game than the flaming garbage of the theater version.

Edit#4: Around the 1 hour mark the movie starts losing steam. The cut&extended scenes help it but a lot is still letf for the viewer to piece together and decide what is going on. For instance: Batmobile chase scene was entierly unnecessary. He already planted the tracer on the truck why engage it? If he wanted to steal it at the docks he could have taken out those henchmen with his eyes closed. Clark talking to his mom scene would, in my opinion, be much stronger had we seen him talk to her as Clark not as Kal-El.

Edit#5: The kryptonian metal bullet sub plot and the Luthor/Senate hearing sub plots start to make sense. Jesus Christ, how could they cut these scenes out? These are vital plot elements! They literally explain what is happening straight to the audience.

Edit#6: Ok, so I'm about 2 hours in and got about and hour to go. Deleted scenes help. Drastically. I can not stress this enough. However, shit's all fucked up anyways. Cops find (probably planted by Luthor) bomb materials in wheelchair guy's apartment they shift the blame from "the alien did it" to "It wa a bombing, but Supes was involved...maybe". Why would Luthor do that? Why would he allow the blame to be lifted from Superman? Isn't that working against him? Also, fuck EisenLuthor in general. His character is so fucking retarded.

Edit#7: "The inside of the chair was lined with lead" I am so fucking pissed this didn't make the theater cut. Who the fuck approved of this over the edited version? Are WB directors brain dead?

Edit#8: The final hour when the movies starts sinking into irreparable damage area. More Luthor and his daddy issues, "MARTHA???!!!", dream scenes, "im a friend of your son's". However, Batman cleaning out the warehouse to get to Super mom is amazing. Even though it still irititates the shit out me that Batman has a cowl that can sustain a point blank gun shot but to the temple but a fucking knife goes through his batsuit like it's made out of cheap plastic. Why can't Batman invest in some high tech Bat kevlar?

Edit#9(Last one I swear): well the movie is over. Post senate hearing the movie really starts losing steam. Every scene after it is made like it's just there so they can go the next one. Luthor is still idiotic, deleted scenes don't add any depth to him. Exept for him getting transfered to Arkham and him basically admting that he is insane. Superman/Clark funeral was a bit stupid. They will have to explain how is Clark alive again, since everyone saw his corpse. Overal the Snyder cut is a solid 7.5 maybe even an 8. It's still riddled with flaws but the deleted scenes soften the blow a lot. Had something like this hit the theaters, this movie would still be breaking records.

With the exception of Winter Soldier, every character in the marvel universe has played their part pretty fucking good. Hell even Hawk Eye has had moments where he stole scenes.
