It needs to be addressed that choreography doesn't make for a compelling fight sequence.

For instance there was more going on when obi wan fought Vader in new hope than any of the saber fights in the prequels.

Winter soldier had some, not much but some meat in e combat sequences between bucky and Rogers due to Rogers holding back while Bucky was going for the kill...

Civil war was awesome because it was just all around uncomfortable watching people who shouldn't be fighting each other go at it.

You made some good points but you used an absolutely terrible example when you mentioned Obi-wan and Vader (I assume you're talking old Obi-wan in A New Hope?) That scene has not aged well and it's laughable going back and watching it today. These guys are at the highest level and they look like two amateurs who have never wielded a light saber in their life.

You probably should have mentioned the lightsaber duel between Luke and Vader at the end of Return of the Jedi. Much more intense in my opinion (probably because these characters have had 3 movies so we care about them at this point) but good points you brought up. The tension definitely adds to the experience.

Maybe i was bias for street fighters since its one of my first action movies.

But I still has not get any convincing argument that WS can compete with other top action movies like Dredd, IP man, the raid or ongbak.

When a fight looks lie a dance routine with the players just going through the motions...that's dull. Doesn't really matter to me just how impressive the dance is.

This shit doesn't do anything for me. There's no investment in it. It's just a fancy dance.

It's a neat gimmick but not much more than a neat gimmick. I get more invested in why two people are fighting, the motivations and investments in the characters than I do the fight.

I think that's what makes a great fight sequence.

This is a much better fight sequence as the motivations are much more powerful.

Well what Winter Soldier has beyond anything in that clip, beyond fancy shield ricochet's and kah rah tay...is a guy not wanting to fight his best friend. And being torn up inside about it.

Getting tossed off an overpass into an oncoming bus is fun and all...but the real beauty is the motivations beyond the actual fight.

In your clip I see 1 guy kicking ass and I don't know his motivations and I certainly don't feel threatened by anything attacking him in those clips. He isn't a super hero yet he can take a glass sign smashed over his head and just flex scream it off...

So basically it's just as much a cartoon as Winter Soldier but now I'm missing the internal conflict of having to fight your best friend to the death.

WOW, so are you saying that WS is better than Ong Bak in terms of action movies ?

i know its your opinion and you deserve to have them but ? really ?

Ong baks is up there with Dredd, The Raid and Kungfu Hustle.

It is regarded as one of the best Wushu movies. I've seen it but personally I am not into those types of Martial Arts films.
