Multiplat BALDUR'S GATE III

So I'm well over-leveled at this point.

Took out the Dragon and then made Raphael my bitch.

Think I'll go abuse some hags next.

I hope they don’t win GOTY because of this lag.

I'm not a gamer but was a big fan of Baldurs Gate 1, 2/ Shadow of Amn, Icewind Dale, ToEE, Neverwinter Nights 15 years ago, but part 3 is really getting on my nerves. Games fight mechanics are such a pain. 10 enemies and it takes forever to make a move, picklocking takes forever rolling the dice and wait. No wonder game is taking 90 hours to finish. Without this shit it would be probably half the time.

And it's not that I'm minding it occasionally but it's over and over the same boring shit. wait, wait, wait. Same sounds, same screen, guys jumping, sprinting, repeat after repeat.

I'm in Arc 3 now, about to kick Garrosh's ass and the story isn't that compelling either. Astarion is a pain, Wyll is a pain, Gale is a pain, everyone is fruity which is like, why does the whole camp trying to fuck me?! I mean seriously.

It's a good game, of course, very good. But I don't understand the general acclaim and praise as one of the greatest games ever.

I'm really not enjoying it. Maybe I'm just out of the loop, maybe other games are even worse but it's not catching me.

Having fun with the game at times.. but the movement and camera controls are absolutely fucking awful.

Once I get frustrated enough trying to fucking move around or shoot something, I just turn the game off.

It's gets so frustrating that I don't know if I'll be finishing the game.

Like the movement during combat or outside of combat? Outside of combat it's just simple moving like any other game. In combat your movement is based on several different factors. Never had issues with the camera so I'm not sure where to begin with that one. What system are you playing on?

Has anyone tried to start an Honor mode run yet? I'm currently in the middle of my 3rd run but after I finish it I'm gonna try an honor mode run.

Wouldn't be surprised if some YouTuber is doing it.

Personally, it blows my mind anyone would really try it with a game that lasts 100+ hours.

This might be the best game I’ve ever played if it wasn’t virtually unplayable in sections due to the lag.
Yeah, Act III was awful for me. I loved every minute leading into Act III, outside a couple of big battles at the end of Act II that foreshadowed massive problems coming for me.

How is the lag now for you all in Act III? Not only would I get some horrible frame drops, regardless of my settings, at least one enemy per battle wouldn't do anything on their turn, and would stay that way the entire fight. The bigger the battle, the more enemies that would do nothing. Anyone experience that?

I didn't experience that at all. During Act 3 though I moved from PC to PS5 though. Like as soon as I got to Act 3 I made the switch.

I guess it supports cross saves?

It was so annoying. It did it in the exact way on my desktop (Win 11) and Steam Deck, infuriating really. There were a number of people experiencing the same thing, but no solution. I haven't touched it since Starfield came out. I left off at the Shar Temple, or where it is you meet Shadowheart's
parents
. It was a big battle and I just couldn't take the waiting.

There have been numerous patches since then, so hopefully they fixed it. I have an epic fight to solve when I go back.

Yea I never had issues to begin with so I can't comment if it was fixed or not. The worst bug I had was my crew not jumping with me and having to select them to get them to jump over.

I had a lot of issues in Act 3 as well. Many frame drops and crashes no matter the setting. Certain I just switched over to PS5 to not have to deal with it but I still did the majority of Act 3 on PC. My issues did start in Act 2 though and just got worse in Act 3.
