I am serious. You are thinking in the short term. I don't necessarily think the NFL is thinking in the long term, they're thinking about money, but in this case, there may be some coincidental parallelism between the two. One shouldn't take things for granted. If there's one wisdom I've gained by my middle age it's how blindingly fast things I thought were entrenched in culture & the world order can evaporate.

I don't understand why you're so offended by a halftime show that was intended to grow football's audience. Again, I don't give a shit about halftime shows, myself. Halftime is for refreshment. The show is for the girls and the gays.

I agree, it wouldn't be if it was something that had to be endured over and over (like Colin Kaepernick and players kneeling, or the #BLM logo on uniforms). But I think those execs smartly calculated that the main base would forget, forgive, and move on from a one-time affair. Especially since it's just a silly half-time show. The football is what brings them back. Again, most football fans don't care too much about anything that isn't on the football field. They even manage to ignore male cheerleaders as long as there are only a few, so there are still an abundance of cute girls doing the dances on the sidelines.

Conversely, I gather they figured it would score huge points with Mexican-Americans in the USA, even those who speak English, and also Spanish speakers across the world. It might even endear itself to some from the non-Spanish speaking world abroad. And this would be remembered. Because if they are to become football fans, same as for the Americans above, it's the football that will bring them back.

But it might be Bad Bunny who brings them in.

I don't see how you can disentangle the two. You could make music in Pigeon English. Most of us could grasp it. It doesn't mean we'd give a shit. Historically, Brazilians haven't cared about Spanish-language music.

They do extremely fake spotify numbers. If the label decides it anything will blow up. Or look big. By looking big it gets big. 50% listeners are sheep. They like it cause the number next to it is 500 milion. They think this person is ultra rich and important. Get them in any big shows they want. Any colaborations. Make the algorythm show you their face. It all can be engineered.

Madmick is right. Spanish media and especially music don't do well in Brazil and it's largely rejected. There will be a few exceptions and some one hit wonders show up every few years or so.

The only spanish based artist that managed to have several hits in Brazil is The Gipsy Kings. But that's because the Kings are awesome

When spotify plays me his music I don't skip. I don't actively look for it. Spanish sounds good, I just don't speak the language. I'd listened to so e 69 tracks in spanish. It's a good language.

I don't know how someone can say with a straight face that a singer not saying a single word in English while performing during the Super Bowl halftime does not stick out like a sore thumb. Singing in Spanish is one thing, but greeting the crowd in Spanish is quite another.

I am not emotionally invested in it, but it was obviously weird to have the prerforming artist speak 0 words in English and constantly mention South American countries while playing in the Super Bowl show.
Yet liberal people here try their best to tell the rest it was perfectly logical and a natural thing to do, and it is hilarious.

Io no parlo espaniol. Mio madre parlo picolo. I didn't use google for this. I had italian in school, can't speak it. My mom used to work with spanish women and can speak it a little. I don't know supuseto but I understood the rest. Spanish is a great language. It really is it sounds great to everyone. German and slavic sounds rough to non speakers. Latin languages sound great to everyone.

I speak Slavic and German. South Slavic and I love Russian when I play Dota and the bros go blyat suka nahui. I love their language. Mine is the south Slavic version. But to others our language probably doesn't sound elegant or great. Honestly slav languages to non speakers sound like a gibberish ant language. German sounds like a rough war language. Even though Germans got some of the most poliet social codes in language. You say please and thank you and have a nice day for everything.
