Bad bear year in Alaska

My 10 was my first pistol. It's refreshing to see the ammo drop down to not .44 magnum prices.

I’ve been preaching the 10mm since ~ 2008. I remember having to order ammo and then there was like 2 different types.

It’s awesome to have so many available options for it now. I actually have 3 Glock 20s that I’ve grabbed over the years, love those things, carry one 95% of the time. I’ve got one on my belt right now.

Yeah I'm actually surprised only one person mentioned bear mace. That's what rangers and wildlife conservation people carry.

At least in my case, wildlife conservation takes a back seat to self-preservation.

We never carry bear spray. Just too many chances for things to go wrong....wind, if a bear is already charging it’s not going to shut it off, spray your friends....etc.

I've heard bear spray just means you're jalapeno flavor when they eat you.

That’s crazy. Rip to the victims and prayers for their families.

I lived in Texas my entire life and moved to Pennsylvania in May. First time I’ve ever seen bears. Most are scared of people though and keep it moving.

I have a few Glock 10mm....had to get a +0 pinky extension for my 29. When using stout ammo the little bastard jumps more than I like. The pinky extension settles it down. The G20 is probably my favorite pistol that I own.

Ruthless. If you’re packing a pistol I’ve heard it needs to be at least a .357 or something powerful. They apparently charge right through 9mm’s. Crazy to me that people go through cougar or bear infested areas without a piece

I live in Canada and have never fired a weapon. I am a guest in their woods (I hike all the time and do wildlife photography). I believe the bears come first not people.

What makes you so confident in your opinion, personal experience?

It’s known amongst outdoors people. Bear mace can work but if a grizzly charges your pretty fucked. I got charged by a big black bear (where I live they are a much larger subspecies than the rest of North America). I just got my hands up and made a loud deep noise and it stopped. It was scary as fuck though.

Great tits.

Now what was this about a bear?!

Kodiak Bears are absolute units! They make lions and tigers look like tiny pussycats lol. How you gonna stop this thing from charging at you and fucking up all your shit then going deep in your wife? You'd need a Super Shotgun to the face at point blank range!

God damn Canadians are pussies. Are you actually bragging about never firing a gun??? Lol.

Bear mace is almost always better. If you stumble upon a thousand pound animal, that charges you at 35mph, good luck hitting it, let alone killing it. Bring a pistol or shot gun, if your hunting or backpacking for an extended time, but still bear mace is still your best fast response defense.

It’s amazing that this post got 3 likes since it’s complete bullshit.

Humans used to have to fend off Cave Bears in Europe. Imagine trying to fight something off like that with a pointed stick.

I'm well aware of the Cave Bears lol as well as Short Faced Bears. Scientists speculate these monstrosities delayed human migration into North America because they hunted us in the Bering Strait.

That bear is Jimbo, Jim and Susan (the owners) had him since he was a cub so they imprinted on him from a young age, this is the key to being around these wild animals safely you have to know them since they were cubs, he sadly died earlier this year from liver cancer. RIP Jimbo. They have a bunch of other bears too.

Yeah, same with lions. These lions were hand raised -

His youtube channel is amazing btw

Its just ignorant and stupid. Just because you can get a good result from some a certain percent of these wild animals will fail to be socialized pets and the results will be deadly for the humans and then for the animal after.
