Economy Avocados get Cancelled

I thought folks could grow them on their windowsills, I understand they are brittle and take time to bear fruit.

In my country most of the Avocados come from Peru, South Africa, Chile, Israel and Spain.

Much like growing green onions in that matter it isnt optimal.

Seems a lot more optimal from an ethical point of view :)

If you want lower nutrition food, grow them in windows in water where they are small, lack vitamins and minerals and so on. Or, grow them properly in places they can grow.
As far as cartels go, im all ears on how to eliminate them.

People compromise on these things all the time for lesser reasons, if the highest nutritional standard involves criminal activity and cruelty then perhaps sourcing it more ethically and compromising on the quality would be a good thing to pursue.

I would imagine the key to stopping cartels is cutting the supply and demand the markets they get involved with have to offer. Is the cartel situation the same in all the other countries that grow Avocados?

It goes deeper than that. Mexico grows a lot of our fruits and vegetables. It's not just avocados. I don't know what the solution is but I got really sad when I bumped into some news about cartel cannibalism when reading on this topic.
Our demand is insane. We source avocados from other South American countries too. The alternative is develop genetically modified plants that are hardy against colder weather. I don't know if people will bite on that. I am willing to give up avocado but I am not sure most people are.

If they come from south america, its all blood from everything i have read.
Price comparisons from california avocados seem to be more than SA, which shows that consjmers tend to purchase the cheaper ones, which makes less inclination for new business ventures using avocados as capital. It will be a while before usa as an example could make a stronger impact on domestic growth, especially with limited space/environment for them.

They've modified the apples here in the US to withstand cold storage.

Would actually love to see this thinking widely applied in regards to our international trading partners.
I know. Would love people to actually care about how things they buy get there and who made them and out of what.

Good. We shouldn’t tolerate any bullshit from semi-failed states like Mexico.

Once the Avocardo lobby makes ads about unnatural avocados.... You know how people are with the GMO scare. In the end prices dictate everything though. You need to make a cheaper product
