Indeed. It was heavily rumored that they CGIed up stones out of the gauntlet and it ended up being the case. Another theory that ended up correct is the order in which he got the stones. The poster ended up being accurate

And finally the Thanos theory was also correct

A - Aether
N - Necklace
O - Orb
S - Scepter

The H ended up being...not Heimdall not Heart Shaped herb but...Her. As in Gamora who had both the location and had to be sacrificed for Thanos to get the soul stone.

His mission wasn't to murder them. He just cared about the stones.
He kept alive the people he respected. He respected fighters, which is why he chose to save Gamorrah when she was a kid. he was pretty consistent with that.
He left alive the giant troll as well. He wasn't about murdering everybody

And since they didn't show Valkryie and Korg, i'm guessing they were on another ship that Thanos didn't bother..or he just let some people escape

Even in GoTG 1, all he was able to do was be able to hold the infinity stone without instantly blowing up;

What other option do you think he had? I'm not understanding what you thought was dumb.
The way I see it, he had 2 choices..he either tries his hail mary knife trick, or he just lays down and lets Thanos and crew curb stomp him.
If he somehow was able to kill Thanos and grab a stone, he could have a chance.
He had no other reason to believe that Thanos would let him live.
