Movies AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR v.7

Alright, now that i've decompressed over a couple days, some thoughts

I've seen a lot of people nitpicking things, as happens with any movie, but I think that there's a fundamental difference between the reason why some (like me) couldn't rate it high enough and others feel it fell short.
Here's the deal: I, and many others, have been waiting our whole lives to see this brought to life. And it's not that there aren't things that maybe sorta could have been improved or whatever.... it's that we have been waiting literally decades and it gave us what we wanted. That's it, in a nutshell. What we wanted didn't need to be perfect, it just needed to happen. Seeing Thanos kill half the universe is now checked off my bucket list of awesome shit I want to see in my life. Not that I don't think it was an amazingly well made movie in general, but in a larger sense it just needed to make that dream of live action amazing comic book glory happen. And actually making that happen was no small feat; this movie was massive. The slow build, long term investments made in each character and story were absolutely vital to creating the type of focal point this story serves as. They could have easily fallen short of realizing the dream.
I can't fucking wait for the next one. Dear GOD. Fortunately, we only have to wait a year this time instead of several. The gulf between Thanos showing up at the end of Avengers I to now has been a torment. Fruitful, but agonizing. This time they're only gonna bust our balls for a year, which I appreciate.
We've seen Thanos break the universe, now it's time to see him get his ass kicked.

this is the most disciplined I've ever been. Stopped interacting with the thread and avoided all discussion/ spoilers after the last trailer.
I think it made a huge difference. Completely loved this movie.

It felt a little like they borrowed from Galactus's storyline. Not complaining, just an observation.
I was worried because I did the same for justice league and TLJ and I walked away bitter and disappointed each time.

I accidentally saw some of the trailer from deadpool 2 before the movie and thatvwas that first time I had seen ANYTHING for that movie.

I was never a big fan of his when I was a kid, just thought he was an ok hero, but really became a fan of his during Civil War. It was when Punisher refused to fight back that made you realise he's a different breed. Punisher lives by a code and he was willing to let Captain America almost kill him without doing anything. Just because he respected him so much. that stood out to me

the overall arc of Civil War was excellent, I think that was when I fell back in love with comics again
It's the best arc they've ever done imo

wait

did this scene happen at all?

The ending was a bit annoying, of it, what's the point, honestly? They're all going to be back. 3 of the charachters who turned to ash have confirmed sequels ffs. How is the final Spidey/Tony moment supposed to resonant when you know he'll be back?

Then again, it's a classic comic book move, so I can't be too upset about it.

Also, the CGI for Proxima was trash.

Other then that, I really liked this flick. Something cool about watching everything come together after all these years. Brolic Brolin was incredible. The humor was pitch perfect. I loved the way they brought the Guardians into it, and it felt seamless. The dialogue, the music, the interactions.

Thor's entrance had the theater losing their shit, dorks were clapping and everything. It was pretty awesome.

I'm very interested in who was left alive for the next movie. All of the original Avengers are still there, Iron Man, Cap, Thor, Hulk, plus Black Widow and presumably Hawkeye. That strikes me as a conscious choice. The original team has to get their shit together and take on Thanos.

Also Nebula was alive, which is significant for anyone who has read the Infinity Gauntlet comic book. And Rocket being the only Guardian left makes me think he'll have a big part to play.
Stormbreaker Thor, World War with max rage inspiried by having been bitched out by Thanos, Cap and kicking ass just because, hawkeye with vibranium arrows breaking physics 10 times over, and widow...widow...??? And I'm guessing Ironman is going to die in the next movie.

I thought the gauntlet was broken at the end of the movie. The dwarfs design only seemed good for a one off, although Thanos still has the gems I assume.

So I guess Captain Marvel is going to help out with everything. Hopefully we get Antman involved in that one as well was a bit disappointed he wasn't in this.
Ive heard he plays a massive part in the next movie

I thought Dinklage's role was awesome, btw. Hopefully they revisit Nidavellir and fix that handle.... that handle.... my only gripe of the movie.

Not the length of the handle (I agree with @Dragonlordxxxxx that the length is great), but the fact that its a Groot handle grinds my gears.
A really silly moment that also doesn't make sense.

Also, given its powers, it would have worked to make it gold like the original Stormbreaker (which had the small Mjolnir-esque handle). Glad they didn't go with Jarnbjorn.

the reason why I felt the groot handle was fitting is because of the fact that thor got a little back story here when he mentioned he was 1500 years old and how many countless battles he had been in and that he took groots language as an elective when he attended school.

Thor being able to speak Groot was awesome

I wish that Cap had personally dispatched one of Thanos' henchmen. That would've been nice. I know that the one died in Scotland, but I would have preferred that Cap do it himself. That's just the fanboy in me though.

Dude, Cap was the unsung hero. His presence just demands attention.

Its a branch holding together one of the greatest weapons in the universe.

Oh, and cap never caught thanos punch. So people can stop complaining about that.

He did take a punch, and got KTFO'd

I involuntarily clapped when he showed up on screen, and i'm pretty sure that's the only time i've ever clapped in a movie my entire life.
