What it really comes down to more is I'd say character, when people say "too CGI" often they don't mean its bad technically but that its used to create something bland.

I mean Gollum from over 15 years ago is still arguably the gold standard for CGI characters dispite obviously being more limited technically.

Part of the problem I think is that studios tend to think "well its CGI the casting doesn't really matter".

Im not sure if this pertains, but golem, caesar, i am 100% aware, then and now, that im looking at cartoons.

I was looking straight at thanos, with my skeptical eye, and thought, fuck, he looks fucking real. I believe i even saw some arm hair.

On a more serious note, is it bad that I totally agreed with Thanos' reasoning for doing what he did? Wiping out 50% of everyone to insure survival sounds good to me, does that make me a bad person lol

Once you think about it, how does it even make sense? Like, he's randomly killing off half the people regardless of their benefit to society. And there would obviously be a number of planets not overpopulated and those which are even underpopulated. Also, you're not even solving the problem. Those overpopulated planets will just cycle back to being overpopulated.

The odd part about his solution is that with a fully powered IG, he could actually achieve balance without killing a soul.

Ok so if Thanos has the power to obliterate half the population OF THE UNIVERSE with a snap of the fingers, and his rationale is that there’s not enough resources for everyone, doesn’t he have the power to just make everything require half the resources.. ?

My daughter, who is 9, cried for like 10 minutes when Spiderman died. It got her real good.
Hit me in the feels too. The movie had pretty much everything in it.

Was I the only one that thought Proxima Midnight was sexy as fuck?

What was that thing Dana White used to say?

Oh that's right

world fucking domination

I thought Dinklage's role was awesome, btw. Hopefully they revisit Nidavellir and fix that handle.... that handle.... my only gripe of the movie.

Not the length of the handle (I agree with @Dragonlordxxxxx that the length is great), but the fact that its a Groot handle grinds my gears.
A really silly moment that also doesn't make sense.

Also, given its powers, it would have worked to make it gold like the original Stormbreaker (which had the small Mjolnir-esque handle). Glad they didn't go with Jarnbjorn.

He's called the "Mad Titan", not the "Rational Titan" for a reason. I mean, he did kill his own mom the day he was born.

Thanos ironically seems more cartoonish just by his nature than Gollum to me but again he clearly has a lot of personality to him and subtle personality at that which is arguably something new for a CGI character, previously they've tended to be pretty larger than life but he's more stoic.

“Infinity Resources” would be a pretty shitty movie, too. Fair enough.

I completely understand the change, I'm just not sold on his new motivation.

Its more relatable. Villains are always cooler when they're more relatable. Its actually cliche at this point. Now every villain has to have a rational quality we can identify with. Thanos' motivation is still maniacal, but now he has feelings, too.... In Avengers 4 we'll find out the Red Skull had a puppy he loved, but the Russian mob killed it when they killed his wife. I'm not complaining. His courtship of death is a difficult sell.

DO NOT CLICK UNLESS YOU HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE!!!!

Wouldn't Thanos' quest for balance have actually failed though? If he kills half of the people in the universe, presumably some would include working drivers, pilots, surgeons etc. All of these deaths would instantly cause more death, not to mention things like suicides falling out from losing loved ones.

Also, did Thanos kill half of the puppies too?
