Not sure if it was mentioned somewhere in the thread but according to Mark Ruffalo The Hulk is both impressed and terrified by Thanos. The Hulk being terrified of something...let that sink in for a minute.
Capt blocking his punch aside , it says quite a bit about how powerful Thanos is.going to be in the movie. The guy is gonna be a fucking face smasher.
I hope they don't screw him up like they did Ultron. In Age of Ultron, they established that pretty much all of the powered Avengers could go toe-to-toe with Ultron's main body whenever they had to, and his drones or whatever were vulnerable to fucking handguns(!), which made Ultron about as
intimidating as the common cold. This was sad, because Ultron should have been able to body pretty much every single Avenger one-on-one.
The one thing Marvel has been really hit or miss about has been establishing villains as genuine threats. This was a problem in the first Avengers too. Sure, the bad guy was a god, but the good guys were: A stronger god, a genius in an super science war suit, a superhumanly strong soldier, and the Hulk (plus Black Widow and Hawkeye, wielding the power of small arms fire!). Any of the Avengers individually, excluding Black Window and Hawkeye and maybe Cap, would have a pretty good shot at defeating Loki. Thor, Iron Man and Hulk are perfectly capable of crushing him solo.
The Chitauri sucked too. In fact, one of the problems with the Avengers all along has been the need to keep Hawkeye and Black Widow relevant, because any enemy which they can kill with their regular weapons really isn't much of a threat. The first Avengers basically showed that the NYPD could have handled the Chitauri invasion on their own, with a little help from the National Guard to handle the Leviathans.
