I thought this was so obvious I've been extra confused as to why people thought Cap was blocking a punch from Thanos.

Are some of you not really noticing the different backgrounds?

I could be wrong here and if so, I apologize but weren't you the guy who was so sure that Iron Man was walking into Dr. Strange's whatever you call it and causing issues for him?

Shouldn't talk about what's "obvious" because it's obvious that isn't what's happening in that shot..

Here's another TV trailer that shows it.

It makes zero sense to show something like that for less then a second.. If you want to show issues between them then you spend more time focusing on it like they did with Star Lord and Iron Man.

Here's a clearer look at that awesome theater standee.

No Loki... They have shown very little of Loki and that only means one thing. I know the directors said that he would be part of team Thanos but what else are they going to say when asked about a major character who immiedetly dies? I think they're lying, they've said a lot more about the other characters.

He's dying in the beginning.

No shit? That's too bad as I like TH the actor. Cheadle is good too, but I thought Howard came across better as Rhodes.
I like Cheadle, but I liked Howard better as War Machine.
Cheadle does a servicable job, but he's pretty bland in this. Howard brought some personality to the role.

Anybody hear about Disney's choice to only lift the embargo on the movie 3 days before it actually comes out?

This means 1 of 2 things imo:

A) They want it so hush-lipped that they don't want any spoilers getting out at all, even from the critics.

OR

B) They've seen the finished product and the movie is a hot mess.

Has to be A. They’re being very tight lipped on spoilers, such that they haven’t released the name of Avengers 4 even though it’s out in like 13 months. It’s very name will likely spoil Infinity war.

I don't buy it. He is shown standing with thanos' other cronies in the trailer.

I predict Loki flips to Thanos side and betrays him in Avengers 4.

Not sure if it was mentioned somewhere in the thread but according to Mark Ruffalo The Hulk is both impressed and terrified by Thanos. The Hulk being terrified of something...let that sink in for a minute.

Capt blocking his punch aside , it says quite a bit about how powerful Thanos is.going to be in the movie. The guy is gonna be a fucking face smasher.

The guy who attacked "big monster" terrified? Yeah, that speaks volumes.

Will the Avengers 4 trailer play before Avengers 3???

Will the Avengers 4 trailer play before Avengers 3???

I don't think so since movie is 1 year away with 2 movies in between. If anything i could see a post scene credit teasing Avengers 4 but thats about it.

It's more likely that the trailer will be shown before Captain Marvel which is the movie before Avengers 4. Ant Man and the Wasp may hint at Avengers 4 too.

Saw the second trailer on a giant screen before Ready Player One. WOW, the detail is incredible. Thanos looks so good, as does everything else.

28 days...

I hope they don't screw him up like they did Ultron. In Age of Ultron, they established that pretty much all of the powered Avengers could go toe-to-toe with Ultron's main body whenever they had to, and his drones or whatever were vulnerable to fucking handguns(!), which made Ultron about as
intimidating as the common cold. This was sad, because Ultron should have been able to body pretty much every single Avenger one-on-one.

The one thing Marvel has been really hit or miss about has been establishing villains as genuine threats. This was a problem in the first Avengers too. Sure, the bad guy was a god, but the good guys were: A stronger god, a genius in an super science war suit, a superhumanly strong soldier, and the Hulk (plus Black Widow and Hawkeye, wielding the power of small arms fire!). Any of the Avengers individually, excluding Black Window and Hawkeye and maybe Cap, would have a pretty good shot at defeating Loki. Thor, Iron Man and Hulk are perfectly capable of crushing him solo.

The Chitauri sucked too. In fact, one of the problems with the Avengers all along has been the need to keep Hawkeye and Black Widow relevant, because any enemy which they can kill with their regular weapons really isn't much of a threat. The first Avengers basically showed that the NYPD could have handled the Chitauri invasion on their own, with a little help from the National Guard to handle the Leviathans.

I too was a bit disappointed with Ultron. Liked him in the comics but thought he was a bit too weak in the MCU. That said , during the movie one of Thor/Iron Man (not sure which one) did say that the Avengers couldn't defeat Ultron alone so there's that. That's why they created Vision and why Thor gave life to him (because of his Vision).

As for Thanos the Russo Bros and Ferge have been hyping him as the most powerful and most dangrous villain in the MCU since the first Infinity War trailer was released. They also built him slowly since Avengers 1 so i"m sort of confidant that he will be a badass. I am a bit worried bout that Capt scene in the 2ns trailer but we'll see how it all unfold i guess.

Yeah, they said Ultron could beat the Avengers, but they never showed it.

Look at Ultron's actual performance: He loses (badly) to Iron Man in his initially upgraded form, fights Captain America essentially to a draw, and then gets ROFL-stomped by the Avengers working together.

This is without getting into the abysmal performance of his drones, who are basically only there to give Hawkeye and Black Widow something to kill. The only one who ever actually puts the Avengers on the back foot is Scarlet Witch, when she uses her poorly-explained powers to mess with their minds. Ultron never really gets the upper hand over the Avengers using his own resources; as soonas they locate and confront him they crush him like an insect.

So Age of Ultron spends a lot of time telling you that Ultron is a serious threat, but they never actually demonstrate this on screen, and it honestly sucked a lot of the life out of the film.

In order for Thanos to actually work as a villain, they are going to have to spend the first movie with him absolutely demolishing everything the Avengers try to throw at him. Giving him the Ultron treatment would be a disaster.

Ultron is a bit like Sage Northcutt. Lot of hype but may never amount to anything haha

....I'm legit confused. Yes, I am that guy. And yes, I'm still certain Ironman is getting in Dr. Strange's way during that shot. I'm still certain, because it's THE EXACT SAME FOOTAGE, nothing has been added or removed, and there's no other clips that have added a new context to it.

So why the hell are you now randomly certain I'm wrong? Literally nothing about what we were debating has changed, it's still the same clip from the same scene. Same length and everything.

Here's another TV trailer that shows it.

Yeah.... exactly like it was shown the first time we watched the trailer. I'm so confused right now....

It makes zero sense to show something like that for less then a second.. If you want to show issues between them then you spend more time focusing on it like they did with Star Lord and Iron Man.

It makes perfect sense. Strange/Stark dynamic is gonna be a major driving force of the movie that hasn't been advertised yet. Rather than advertise that and give away a major plot point, it would be even smarter to briefly show a clip that would lead most people to think they were working together. It's actually one of the main reasons I'm sure of my position. The clip is edited perfectly for a movie driven by Stark and Strange at odds that still wishes to keep that plot point a secret.

But I love your new found confidence, so let's up the stakes.... AV.Sig bet? You down?
