Cotdamn, never seen a MCU villain get so much hype.

Love the art design.

Space 80s nostalgia all over it
Ultron had a huge hype behind him and we all see how that movie went.

Ultron was introduced at the beginning of the movie and dead 2 hours later. 99% of general audience had no idea who he was.
Thanos is on a completely different level. Doesn't even warrant a comparison.

I'd wager 75% of the general audience has no idea who Thanos is. The comparison is valid. To be fair, think this movie will do far better than A:AoU, but you can't say Ultron didn't have massive hype, especially with Spader as the voice.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Obliterates AMC Theatres' Advance Ticket Sales Record

ZXjdJO5.jpg

It’s taken fans of Marvel’s Avengers film franchise 10 years to arrive at one of the most pivotal moments in movie history with the release of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR on April 27. It took just 72 hours for those fans to create new advance ticket sales records for superhero movies at AMC Theatres® (NYSE:AMC).

Reflecting the first 72 hours after tickets went on sale, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR more than tripled the next closest superhero movie, BLACK PANTHER, during the same timeframe.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Advance Ticket Sales After 72 Hours:
257.6% ahead of BLACK PANTHER
715.5% ahead of CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR
1106.5% ahead of AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

The biggest draw for advance sales are premium formats: Dolby Cinema at AMC, IMAX at AMC and PRIME at AMC.

“The incredible advance ticket sales success we’re seeing with AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR is another example of consumers giving evidence that they will come out to movie theatres in huge numbers when Hollywood makes movies they want to see,” said Adam Aron, CEO and President of AMC. “Just like we saw with BLACK PANTHER, JUMANJI, THE GREATEST SHOWMAN, and so many others, movie fans are buying their tickets in advance, they’re buying in premium formats, they’re buying to reserve their seats, and they’re doing so in massive, record-breaking numbers.”

For the opening weekend of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR beginning the evening of April 26, AMC has more than 7.6 million tickets available and nearly 40,000 show start times. AMC’s programming team continues to work closely with theatres to add showtimes as necessary on a location by location basis.

“The success of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR is a testament to the storytelling and franchise craftsmanship from Marvel and Disney, and like our AMC movie fans, we are excited to see what this next chapter holds, and for what could be another record-setting opening weekend,” said Elizabeth Frank, Executive Vice President of Worldwide Programming and Chief Content Officer, AMC.

I hope they’re using those ugly hand shields for cap so they can bring back his shield in Avengers 4. Cap without a shield is like Thor without his hammer.....oh

Hes appeared at the end of the first avengers, gotg and end of ultron

Hes also getting the most screen time and will get a sequel for infinity war

Ultron was ded and barely got the exposure. Ultron didnt kill any heroes MCU has built over solo films. Thanos will. (Directors have already said who ever is dieing stays dead)

Tho marvel villains slack which I agree, they are moreso jobbers due to the fact there can only be so much screen time to hype em up. But in exchange thats were MCU builds up their heroes and lead up to a big bad major villain like thanos who for the first time as a MCU villain will get the most screen time.

This is 10 years planning. They wont mess this up.

Also suprsingly enough id say the comicbook community is more than enough to top or be on par with the amount of casuals. I think ppl underestimate how large the comic fan base really is.

Just take alook at how much views infinity war trailers got compared to any superheroe movie. Most of the views in my opinion are from comicbook nerds.

Thanos' jaw versus a prime Dan Henderson HBomb? Can he crack it?

jUGYuH1.jpg

and I am talking the HBomb that Dan loads up from his ankles. I don't know why whenever I see tht jaw line I think about it getting punched.

And I am talking about the one that Herb Dean and Rashad were both gif'd running away from as Dan loaded up and chased (sorry can't find that old gif).

Ya I know, ... but can you really count the HBomb out. Dana make it happen!

So now the only thing that is left to know, is how this compares to The Force Awakens? If this is 257% more that Black Panther, I have a hard time thinking it is not at least going to equal TFA.

At this point, the only thing preventing it from breaking the weekend record is if the reviews come back negative or less than stellar.

Maybe we get to see Cap and Bucky vs Thanos here.

I don't quite understand this bit. How can Cap repel anything from Thanos if he has the power stone?

Is Thanos not even trying?
