I don't think it's impossible, as far as from the film making side of it. If you have a guy like Feige in charge who has a plan, and is overlooking the whole set up, then it can most definitely work.

I think the logisitics is more of the issue.
I think it'll be much harder getting all the pieces together for future movies.
Aligning all of the actors, writers, crew, etc to do their own movies, and then do the mashup movies...I don't see how they get it all together. Big actors are attached to these movies. Look how deep the cast for this movie is.
I don't see how they'll be able to schedule in stuff when they want half of Hollywood all in one movie. These guys have other projects going on as well. Scheduling, staying in shape for their roles, their other parts...you pretty much have to BE Ironman, or whoever for the next 10 years. I don't see how this will be sustainable as the MCU expands
The Xmen is almost a universe in and of itself.

You certainly make some good points about logistics. We'll see i guess but one of the biggest thing they hyped when they announced the MCU was how interconnected it all was. They may decided to change direction from Phase 4 and onward but i'm pretty sure that we'll still see some connections between each movies and franchises. Maybe not as much as Phase 1-3 but i think there will still be some cameos , references things that happened in other movies etc

we have seen a lot of great movies these past centuries, great action flick, exhilarating adventure movies, drama movies with deep meaning and lots of hilarious comedy.

but a successful cinematic universe, i don't think that is ever been achieved before.

i can't wait to be part of this historic event.

Well I would argue the Tolkien movies and Star Wars movies represent Cinematic Universes.

To me a CU has to be more than just sequels or prequels. They have to create a universe or world where many tangential story lines and characters can exist but there is always that connection.
{<redford}

I have to disagree those movie are more like every other movie with sequels, to be a cinematic universe, it must have lots of different movie with different plot line all connecting in one universe and once in a while they crossover and making something that are gigantic.

Star wars is no different from fast and furious or Triple X, a great franchise but not a cinematic universe.
<{hughesimpress}>

Middle Earth, Star Wars, and the Star Trek universes do in fact count. Marvel was just the first to attempt to make multiple films across multiple characters. Now established franchises have to decide to play catch up, or follow their same old formulas.

There are plenty of characters that could have films made about them in Tolkien’s Middle Earth. In fact, Star Wars is doing such a thing right now with all these stand alone stories. Rogue One is a perfect example. It’s the fans that want solo movies of old characters. So essentially they are doing their Universe in reverse. Imagine if all the original trilogy characters had solo films first?

I’ll agree with can’t waiting to be a part of this event though. It will be the end of one era, and the beginning of a new one.

Anyone surprised Marvel movies are still doing so well? Don't get me wrong, I enjoy them and they are always competent but they are getting really over the top and silly now.

Comic book movies used to be a joke because they were silly and no one took them seriously. Then came Dark Knight and Iron Man and they were like actual serious movies that anyone could watch and enjoy and it saved the genre. To me, it seems like we are back to silly comic movies that are hard to take seriously.

It's really hard for me to get invested in a purple space monster. The big action sets and CG have no emotion. It just feels big and dumb for the stupid masses. Anyone else starting to feel that way?
Are you really asking this question? Look no further than the excitment just on sherdog alone. Even people that aren't the biggest fans want to see how an 18 movie lead up eventually climaxes.

To me the most epic way of ending the movie would be Thanos being successful in acquiring the 6 infinity stones. Last shot would be him standing somewhere with devastation seen around him and in the background. He then smile , slowly clench his fist , the stones light 1 by 1 and then che snap his fingers. Credit start rolling

I want Thanos to win. That would be fucking epic and the first time a main villain actually win at the end of an MCU movie (well i think). Would be fresh , end on one hell of a cliffhanger and setup Avengers 4 nicely

Go Thanos Go !!!

I loved how they made humans look bigger than hobbits in lord of the rings and I saw they did a similar trick in God's of Egypt.

These cheap fucks really missed out on doing that with Thanos (and apocalypse) cuz this cgi shit is too known!

I am not supposed to see a trailer and know how they did the special effects before the movie is out. Jesus christ, new movies are supposed to have effects that leave us saying "how'd they do that?!"

Awesome Infinity War cover art for the latest Empire Magazine.

Cotdamn, never seen a MCU villain get so much hype.

Love the art design.

Space 80s nostalgia all over it

No ones forcing you to invest in it but the main reason its still successful is because it took 10 years of 18 movies that are all connected leading up to this grand finale that is infinity war

Like tv shows that have a long run, fans and casuals who have been following it have connected with the stories and characters that eventually are excited for the grandfinale of its end season.

Infinity war is the close out before it transitions and expands to the next phase.

Ofcourse if you have been following a season casually, episode here n there, by the time the finale comes around, it wont be as exciting. Especially when you see new characters and missed out on their back story.

A friend of mine brought up an interesting point. That Thanos's weakness may be his love for Gamora.

She'll lure/convince him one way or another, and because he loves her, he falls for it making him drop his guard. This is the time when the avengers initiate their attack and/or get the gauntlet away from him.

See I could see a combination of these two. Thanos get the gauntlet assembled with all the Infinity Stones and has ladi waste to the hero's but he has not yet used the gauntlet yet.

Gamora uses her relationship to get the gauntlet away from him and to Dr Strange and they assemble the remaining hero's for a last push and recovery.

BTW can a comic nerd help me on this question. I know few people and typically only the most powerful can handle an infinity stone and survive but once in the gauntlet can anyone utilize the gauntlet and thus the stones or just high powered individuals?

In the comics (or the ones I've read anyway), anybody can touch the Infinity Gems without harming themselves. As for wielding the Infinity Gauntlet, there's a lot of people that have wielded it that are not considered powerful beings like Captain America, Black Panther, Iron Man or even the Pet Avengers (in a way).

I just can't suspend disbelief for these movies. There's just no real tension. I've tried... and I keep trying to get invested. I loved the trailer for Civil War and couldn't wait to watch Captain America, Bucky and Iron Man fight. Then I saw the movie and it was lifeless. I'll keep giving them a try because some are good individually, but so far only 2 were actual good, coherent movies IMO (Winter Soldier and Thor Ragnorak).

I will give them some credit in that Age of Ultron, Iron Man 3 and Thor 1 and 2 were the only really bad movies. The rest aren't bad, they just aren't good.

You’re right about the levity of the films. Sometimes you just gotta kill someone. I’m expecting at a minimum combined 3 deaths in Avengers 3 and 4.

Awesome

I thought the first Thor movie was pretty good. To each their own though.

I hope Cap doesn't die. I wanna see him go on adventures in space like Hulk did.

Thor 1 and 2 were greatly brought down by the forcing of the Thor and Jane relationship. It was really annoying. Thor's crew were a bunch of geeks, that didn't help. Loki saved those two movies from being bad. He saved Avengers too.

I hope Infinity War 2 ends with farmer Thanos.
