That is not it at all.

i've said it before and the problem is that comic book fans want the MCU to be an extension of the comics with every one at peak powers. But you simply cannot, and should not, start the MCU with every threat being galactic level. the MCU has 20 year plan and just like in the comics (superman used to strain to throw a car in DC) they want to show the team build into their full strength.

And I know that maddens comic book fans, but it is the only thing that makes sense.

More than anything, I can't stand how illogical the fight sequences are (see the final battle of Apocalypse and minions) or the cheese factor of Ronan in GOTG. Although after many years of fighting and studying battle field tactics I have a hard time watching most fight and battle scenes without losing my shit. Its harder to suspend that part of the mind. If there was ever a curse that I can say I have it is finding logical and continuity flaws and inconstancy's in movies. Doesn't help that I was a comic book and movie fiend as a kid.

I think a lot of time directors, actors and script writers lack the imagination that comic kids have, and often under estimate that audience. Ah...you know, come to think of it, Hollywood calls it in most of the time, and they get away with it, but I'm at that point where I feel like they are insulting our intelligence with some of this crap.

I will be going to the theaters for this, but I am not going in with high expectations. Avengers, age of ultron, x men apocalypse, and even Ant Man and many other Marvel movie's have had me ready to walk out of the theater. It would seem Hollywood has mistaken comics for cartoons. imo

Technically, although the rights to the term are still held by Fox, Infinity War will feature the first Mutant in the MCU: Thanos himself. In the comics, Thanos is an Eternal, but carries the Mutant Devient Gene which explains both his grotesque appearence and his vast power, which is far greater than a, "normal" Eternal.

Thanos' Ultimate Goal in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Revealed

Thanos-Avengers-Infinity-War-021417-Dragonlord.jpg

While the Infinity Gauntlet event in the original comics has the conqueror known as Thanos aiming to court Death herself, Infinity War might be tweaking his ultimate goal for the film. Avengers: Infinity War co-writer Stephen McFeely took part in the recent Infinity War featurette on the home release of Doctor Strange. He describes Thanos' ultimate goal, and you'll notice some differences (via LRM).

“His goal is to re-balance the universe as he sees it. So when he figures out that the Infinity Stones could do this for him at the snap of a finger, that becomes his main goal.”

What "re-balance" means is anyone's guess, but it most likely does not include the pursuit of Death. It possibly alludes to the rising number of superpowered beings in the universe, and the Infinity Stones would be one way to wipe them all out at once in that whole "no more mutants" way.

It's not unusual for Marvel to change up their storylines a bit from the comics to the big screen, and the afterlife and more supernatural elements like Death haven't been truly introduced yet to the cinematic universe. It makes sense then that they would go a slightly different route.

Hmmmm
Still overwhelmingly excited for this, but tbh a Thanos that isn't trying to bang Death is really not the same

Thanos' Ultimate Goal In Avengers: Infinity War Revealed

Doesn't sound that different from the comic, because my guess is what's out of balance is the same thing as in the comic: too much life in the universe. In IG Thanos killed half the universe for a reason -- because Death charged him with that mission. In her eyes the universe was out of balance because there were more individuals alive at the present than had ever died in all its history.

So my guess is that his goal will be the same - use the IG to wipe out a good chunk of the Universe's life.

I wanted to see Death.. was curious how will they make that work and his relation with her but hmh sucks for me then.

Really excited to see Thanos at last. I didn't read the comic, but him courting Death sounds pretty cool.

And CG Thanos looks a whole lot better than Practical Effects Apocalypse.

Well...they had a better version at 10:20.

Thanos could still look like this.

But some cosplay Thanos have looked pretty cool.

Sounded cool when The Other said it.

That is Thanos's whole ark. He wants to die, he is an immortal and is in love with Death which in the marvel universe is represented by a female grim reaper. He wants to appease her by doing all the things horrible in the universe to die and be by her side. She also has a love hate relationship with Deadpool, and the thing they have in common is that they are both immortal lol. Thanos most definitely hates Deadpool in the comics because of his relationship with death (Jelly), i don't think it will get that far in both interacting that way.

That Apocalypse was awesome and you could tell he was rubbing it in for not getting the job.

his premise for going bad is the same old nihilistic premise you see in a lot of fantasy villains. 90% of final fantasy villains are like this.

So...Thanos wants to be anakin?

Thanos smirking at what The Other said about courting death could simply be his way of saying, "Challenge accepted". Doesn't mean he literally wants to bump uglies with Lady Death.

There was a rumour that Eve Green had been cast as Lady Death, but her name isn't on the cast list at IMBD.

"More people are alive than have ever died."

That's re-balancing. No idea where that other theory came from.

The "snap of a finger" line is a dead giveaway, imo.

That's interesting... makes me wonder why he'd want to base his wrath from earth though. There'z got to be some reason for him to be here & fight the Avengerz. maybe one of the infinity stones got lost here or something.
