For me it wasn't it's all working under Strange's plan, it's a clear fake-out.

Not buying it for a second that they are gone, guess you do.
To be honest I can see where you are coming from, at the time I and many others were just to wrapped up in the moment to pick or care but after having time to reflect it is obvious they are coming back, I mean half of the erased heroes have movies planned FFS <45>

In the theatre my brother who isn't a huge fan like me actually lent over and said why are they being erased when they have new movies coming or just had movies that made tonnes of money? I kinda just said go with it and wait for part 2.

I didn't wanna let that detail take away from the moment so in this case ignorance is bliss and I told myself it's over they are gone and never coming back <DCrying>

Marvel should make the next Guardians about Rocket and the Stallone Ravagers and the next Spiderman movie a prequel where Uncle Ben dies since they've announced those sequels already.

Yes, and personally I think that's the big one that might never be beaten. Even the original Star Wars couldn't do it.

Guess it depends on what counts as the foreseeable future. I'd be pretty surprised if $2.7 billion hasn't been surpassed by 2030. The Avatar sequels are scheduled for release from 2020-2025, one of them could do it and I wouldn't be shocked.
Well if Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Marvel failed then unless Avatar does it, it will never be broken imo

There just isn't a franchise or story big enough that could do it.

Unless some new age technology like 3D comes out and a movie is the first to showcase it.

I would be utterly shocked if any of the Avatar sequels come even remotely close to the first on box office numbers. The spectacle of that film is what made people go out in absolute droves to go see it. I don’t see how it can happen a second time (and third, fourth and fifth time).

Is this site legit? Looks sketchy as hell. I would LOVE that shirt but I don’t want all my money stolen.
I ordered something similar from a site lile that...a hfc (hounds fuckin chicken) GOT shirt

Was fine

Personally I don't expect it to happen, but I say I wouldn't be shocked because although I don't see a lot of interest in the Avatar sequels, I don't recall a lot of interest in the first one until it was actually out. It was as if suddenly the movie was released and everyone was seeing it. I guess I just wasn't hip to the buzz.

The last two times Cameron has released a movie it shot up to the no. 1 spot. And the recent trend is sequels outperforming their predecessors. I think most signs point towards the Avatar sequels doing big business. The only issue is maybe so much time has passed that no one cares anymore. To me it didn't seem like a movie that made people hunger for more the way movies such as Dark Knight and Iron Man did.

You're right that it was the spectacle of the world Cameron created and the visual effects. The path to continued dominance is certainly more of that. It all depends on the worlds Cameron has been working on, and the advanced effects, and most importantly if glimpses of that in trailers can muster up some serious hype.

The main reason I'm saying this is the inflation factor. A movie that made $2.8 billion this year would surpass Avatar on the unadjusted list, but possibly not on the adjusted list. So technically a movie wouldn't actually have to be as successful to knock Avatar from its perch.

Can we talk about how disappointing teenage Groot was. Regular Groot was a badass, Baby groot is like the best character of all time, and then all he does is play gameboy WTFFFFFFF

To be fair though he then has a really sick moment to cap off the Dinklage scene followed by a hilarious introduction of him by Thor to Rogers.

Also the delivery of “I am Groot” the first time in response to Starlord telling him to put the game down (followed by the Guardians’ reaction to it) had me dying.

Korg-running-at-Loki’s-projection-and yelling “Piss off, ghost!” level of hilarity for me.

Yea it's a super hero movie so agreed have to suspend disbelief a little bit.

In the same time after we have seen it and we talk about it we can't fully act like we don't know what went down and that it will be well in the next one, even with Strange he clearly told us their was one way and led us to believe he is doing that plan right now just with info from this movie.

I just realized that mostly only OG avengers got spared.

Also I think every black person got killed

War Machine, Walking Dead, and M’Baku seem to have made it. We don’t know Shuri’s fate but I’d like to see her interact with Rocket in the next one if she’s still around.

Rhodie was doing some serious damage during the Wakanda battle. Hespect.

Cameron basically defied the odds twice in a row (though he’s so inactive as a director, in a row means with like a 12 year gap in between). But I remember people predicting the flop that would be Titanic and the wildly overexpensive Avatar being talked up as a potential disaster.

Meanwhile both films made insane box office and racked up many awards wins.

I just feel the guy should have pursued new stories and films. Avatar was a good movie (not a great one) and a very solid theater experience, but it’s not the type of film many seem to be itching for the follow up. We’ll see though. Hopefully the sequel is good.

Meanwhile, Zoe Saldana legit has to be one of the highest box office actress’ of all time via her involvement in Avatar, Star Trek, MCU. Hope she’s making bank.

They should have brought Eitri to Wakanda. Then they could make the bestest Vibranium weapon.

Also, Stark's got nanotech but Rhodie's got his old ass suit and rickety leg braces. He's been Stark's only friend for the past few years. That's not fair.

Haha. Excellent point.
