Cliffs: he was pissed at Banner.

I think he did. Thats why he went inside the Soul Gem and saw Gamora's soul.
He died for a moment and the gauntlet brought him back.

i think the russo brothers answered this to a bunch of kids. that if you look at Thanos' reaction after snapping his finger, he too seemed surprised. i think they were hinting that Thanos himself needs getting used to the gauntlet as well.
 
by the way i'm surprised that Starlord isn't getting shit on so much for his dumbassery.. i see a comment every now and then but he's not being flamed too much to my surprise.
 
I saw it again yesterday, still just as good the second time around.

Wondering how many will rewatch this as the ending disappointed/pissed off quite a few
 
This is embarrassing but I missed the finger snap

did it happen after Thor strikes him with the hammer?

Shit I gotta pay attention to that when I see it again tonight

I think that was more to do with Thor planting Stormbreaker in his chest;)

I just remember him slinking into a space stone portal - but somehow do not remember the finger snap

Or I guess might of thought that was a portal opening snap

Guess it was a multi-purpose snap

Also never noticed Thanos making a surprised face at the snap

Will be watching this scene very hard tonight

The actual snap is super quick, and cuts straight to a different location, where Thanos is surprised and talks to young Gamora. The film does a three beat gimmick, so it's the third snap of the film I think. Gamora does it first and hers is the best captured but the problem is the connection to halving the universe is vague.

You have to kinda know the move from the comics, but even there it was tough to depict just because it's hard to draw. Good thing for sound effects by the letterer.
