Even Drax told him to chill out and Drax has consistently been the impetuous idiot of the Guardians when it comes to avenging his family. You get 1 mom card but after that it's too much for me. He's not quite team leader yet or ship captain and it seemed like he'd be heading in that direction. But now he's the guy that ruined the plan in front of the Avengers. He also just pistol whipper Thanos, which was weak.
yeah but he loves Gamora, his relationship with her is a bit different than Drax's relationship with Gamora

yeah he fucked up, but it was staying true to the character they have shown so far

Man, I really can't believe Thor didn't say, "THANOS -- I WOULD HAVE WORDS WITH THEE."

Well, I can but I thought I would lead with hyperbole.

I mean Drax and his wife/daughter. He charged Ronan trying to avenge them. He tried to charge Thanos in IW trying to avenge them and got put to sleep by Mantis. He wasn't listening to Iron Man's plan. But then he decides to be chill when he could have stabbed Thanos in the balls. Quill comes out with the L when he could have come out as the leader and captain the Guardians would need in the future. He also should have had some emotional catharsis when he was going to shoot Gamora in the face that gave him a clearer mind.

yeah in a perfect world thats what would have happened.... but the MCU has shown us pretty clearly throughout the years that the heroes are pretty flawed

I agree he fucked up.... but I can forgive him for it, Id have probably reacted the same

Don’t know how to post the tweet but James Gunn came out saying that Groots final “I am Groot” translated in groot talk while looking at Rocket was “Dad!?”

^This.

man do people like to jump from speculation to stating things as if fact quickly on this site. We simply cannot be sure if Thanos was using the Stone against Hulk or not. He could have completely powered up at the start of the battle with Thor, et al and still be powered up.

We base that speculation off of the evidence given to us. In every other scene in which he uses the IG there is a visual identifier; does that make it a fact? Of course not. But based upon what we have available to us that’s a solid theory imo.

Should we speculate that Cap is a woman because we haven’t seen his dick?

I think Thanos should have escaped the trap by his own will by being enraged because the heroes start saying he didn't love Gamora. Quill could have caused it by saying Thanos was a bad father and Thanos didn't really love Gamora and The Guardians and Nebula are the only family Gamora has and Thanos is impotent and had to kidnap a kid to be his indentured daughter. It would reinforce Thanos' love for Gamora, which the movie is selling, and it could still be Quill's fault. But it would be smartass Quill's fault. Which is one of his top 2 qualities. The other being that's he's a tactical genius.

lol you really put a lot of thought into that scene, thats a really specific idea.... that Im glad they didnt do lol

as I said, I like the scene because Star Lord reacted like Star Lord would imo

Isn't that thing about Quill? Everyone thinks he's clueless and inept except the people who really know him (and even then, sometimes). It was nice to find out Gunn pretty much wrote the GOTG dialogue for INFINITY WAR.

The Avengers followed his plan, granted he credited the plan to himself. The Guardians are still iffy with him. They respect him, but they don't really listen to him.

I thought of that while watching the movie because Quill ruining the plan was immediately off putting to me. There should be a trajectory of him built upon his experiences. And he already experienced outrage that could have harmed others. And he already experienced Gamora being dead because he was going to kill her. He went from no one heeding his order to halt to Earth's Mightiest Heroes following his plan to de-gauntlet Thanos.

It's interesting that you would favor a progressive character arc over reinforcing a character trait. I myself felt a bit put off missing the progression of their romance; not that I wanted to see any funky jungle love, but some green no-titties would have bee nice. I get that olive-aereolae would have been inappropriate for THIS film but ayyyyyyyyyyyy.

He's still a smart ass and a tactical genius. Those are the traits that define him for me. If he stopped being a smart ass and stopped being a tactical genius but was just a hothead he'd cease to be Quill.

I thought the Vision/SW romance was stronger than the Quill/Gamora one. It seems like Quill/Gamora are constantly flirting. She connected with Thor, then he describes her as a long term booty call. It lacks a certain amount of commitment.

Peter Quill is a complete man child and suffered tons of trauma in his life.

The fact he acted out and couldn’t control himself isn’t unbelievable

I saw it for the 3rd go round last night.
Still loved it.

I really liked the interaction between Tony, Strange, and Parker vs The Guardians. Tony and Parker were legit confused on what the hell those guys were about. They did a good job of establishing the differences between all of the characters and making satisfying meetings.

Another thing I noticed on this watch was back at Gamora's planet, Ebony/Thanos gave people a choice as to what their fate would be. Ebony says something like "choose a side...the saved will go to one side..And those who want to be of the chosen to receive Thanos' gift go to the other" (something like that..can't remember exactly)
It seemed like a way of weeding out the weak.

I took my gf to this watch. She's not into "comic book movies", but i thought this one would be different.
This ***** fell asleep!!
I was half way hoping that she had disappeared when Thanos snapped his fingers

That's the Tony Stark affect of understating one's own canniness. He fukken luh her. They does nice thangs togevvah.

What bothered me was the notion of a kid who was kidnapped in the early 80s being familiar with the term "booty call." You can't reference "booty call" AND "Grimace." That's simply not done!

I didn't like her feeling on Thor either, although I concede it softens her character if she's just niggling Quill (but I don't wike it).
