Welcome to the brave new world, where Discipline is so old-school and Mediation between the victim and their attackers is the wave of the future.

Video of attack on San Fernando Valley middle schooler shared on social media, 3 students arrested and released the same day.

By Josh Cain | May 31, 2018

Charityn Borrayo said she learned of the attack on Friday when she saw bruises on her daughter’s face, but she didn’t know the full extent of what happened until a meeting with school administrators on Tuesday. There a school counselor shared the video of the incident with her that another student found on social media.

The footage shows four students, including the one filming, surrounding the victim as two of the others punch and kick Borrayo’s daughter. After the girl falls to the ground, the assault continues until the girl screams at them, then walks away.

All three students were arrested and booked on suspicion of assault
Wednesday at around 3 p.m. after the end of the school day at Sutter, said Sgt. Julie Spry, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles School Police Department. The students were released to their parents the same day.

Borrayo said a group of students has been bullying her daughter for about a month, though she had not been physically attacked before Friday. She said the video taken Friday was circulated on social media among students, and was posted to an Instagram account for videos of fights at the middle school.

LAUSD and LASP officials said that due to concerns over student privacy, they would not detail any disciplinary actions taken by the school district against the students. But Borrayo said in an email that in a meeting with the principal of Sutter, she was told the school would offer to mediate between her daughter and the other students. She said she was also told her daughter could eat lunch in a counselor’s office.

Charges have not yet been filed any of the students — a spokesman for the district attorney’s office said no case has been presented.

The attack and the sharing of the video on social media among students comes as LAUSD and other school districts around the country struggle to deal with online bullying.

In mid-May, parents of three different 13-year-old girls who attempted or committed suicide after repeated bullying filed claims against L.A. Unified, San Bernardino City Unified and Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified school districts. The parents said the school districts didn’t do enough to put a stop to the bullying of their children after multiple complaints.

Borrayo said she intends to find another LAUSD school for her daughter and was insulted by the offer of mediation between the students. Borrayo said she was not convinced that the school could prevent other students from retaliating against her daughter.

“That’s not going to happen,” Borrayo said. “My daughter is a victim. I absolutely am not going to put her through that.”

Borrayo said she was in court Thursday seeking an emergency restraining order for her daughter against the three other students. She said her daughter was “terrified” of going back to Sutter after she was attacked.

They should receive a lengthy detention to say the least!

Damn shame she wasn't carrying.

Pride rules have ruined kids this days, kicks to the head and stomps where not allowed to downed opponents in the past.

What's the controversy here?
I think it's that the school may not have actually disciplined the girls at all, and it's not clear if the criminal case with the LAPD is going to progress beyond this point.

So the controversy would appear to be that these girls aren't being punished at all, possibly.

That would be controversial. Make a racial joke on social media and they'd get expelled. Stomp on a bitch and nothing. Crazy world.

For starter, I assumed the school's ridiculous offer to "mediate" between the victim and her attackers, instead of handling out swift and harsh discipline as rightfully deserved, is self-explanatory for everyone.

Guess not.

Letting the law deal with those scumbag girls would just be enabling the, "school to prison pipeline."

Those two girls attacking her should be expelled.

Off-campus incident. Leave the school out of it. Was only a short, mild beating. Victim got up easily and left.

This. I feel bad for the girl that got jumped, but she will live. It sucks, but stuff like this can be a part of growing up. I say give the girls probation and some community service.

Since when was it controversial that a vagina was a get out of jail free card?

Now you know. :p

When 4 girls beat the shit out of another girl, film it and post it on social media, the one thing that WILL NOT help anything, is putting them in a room together to talk it out.

Teenage girls are nasty little things, and reason isn't their strong suit. Punish the girls harsh enough to make them consider never doing it again. The end.

hang them from a tree with a rope made from their intestines.
next.

Kids never get sent to juvie hall for something like this. It's a point system in Orange county.

We had a kid steal a car, crash, fight with cops and he still did not meet the point requirement.
