Aspinall's grappling is almost as overrated as Ankalaev

just remember that you are comparing Jones at the tail end of his career with Tom, who is supposedly in his prime: look where Jones was when he was the same age as Tom now.

Tom made two miracles: made me like Jones like before he beat Shogun and made me root for a french guy.
Jones was younger than Aspinall is now for the Smith, Santos and Reyes fights when they were all going to decisions and very close decisions with Santos and Reyes.

If you ignore his three previous wins over Israel and the fact he brutally avenged the Big Gank loss, sure

Imagine what Tom would have done to him if a MW left him like this. I notice how Alex wanted none of the smoke a while ago, but now Tom might be out for a while again suddenly hes VERY interested in fighting at HW again. Interesting.

Ankalaev Grappling Stats:

0.78 TD per fight on average, 20% TD accuracy <lol>

2/10 against Jan.

1/4 against mighty wrestler Volkan Oezdimir.

1/2 against post-exploded-knees Thiago Santos.

1/3 against Klidson Abreu (who???)

1/3 against Dalcha Lungiambula (literally who?)

Got taken down by Paul Craig twice, then submitted.

0/12 against Poatan

0/1 against Poatan mid obliteration

You mean the only 2 sport quad champ in history?
That guy?
Damn Santos exploded knees. He was great to root for!!!!!

Guy was a wrcking ball with functioning tendons, would have been a perennial top 10 had his knees lived.

In fact, Jon has always enjoyed an age advantage all but a few times throughout his career!

Izzy is twat but goddamn was that a sweet fight and ending with Izzy hitting him with the bow and arrow move. That was some slick shit right there.

Dude DC is retired. Jon and Khamzat played wrestling around on the street.

0.5/10

Not being able to take down Gane doesn't mean Tom's grappling sucks. It just means his Take downs suck which I'm pretty certain they do. Tom's TD is just rugby tackling the guy and hoping they fall over. In the Volkov fight he just rugby tackles him and he topples over, no semblance of actual TD technique to be found. Same thing with the Oldlovski fight, he just rugby tackles him and Oldlovski falls backward without any semblance of a proper TD actually being completed on Tom's end. Then you have the Cyril fight where Tom actually tries to shoot for a proper TD and he doesn't get anywhere near deep enough to be able to even get it going so he just gives up and never tries again. Does anyone really think if Tom had the technique and ability to take down Gane as easy as Jon that he would stop because the first one failed? Of course not. He most definitely stopped trying after the first one because he knew his take downs aren't good enough to get him down.
