Media Aspinall is surprised people thought alex won

Aspinall doesn't understand how round scoring works, yet he is calling us uneducated. He could at least explain why he thinks there's no way Pereira won round 3, which is the only relevant round.
Trying to actually explain that goes poorly. "An elbow to the temple plus a hard roundhouse to the body, after adjusting slightly up for slightly greater total striking volume, clearly had less impact than a hard jab to the face and a knee to the body" isn't really a winning argument. Sure, it was a really nice jab and the camera angle on the elbow makes it difficult to judge the elbow's impact, but still. It's one thing to say Ank won round three -- wrong, IMO, but entirely justifiable -- but claiming that he clearly won round three and that anyone who says otherwise doesn't understand what they're talking about is pure ignorance.

Clearly 3-2 Ankalaev.
That there is still those who debate this with fervor shows you the state of MMA fandom.

Big Tom > Little Corey.

Tom just mad at Alex because there was a very real possibility that if Alex beat Ank, he was going to move up and fight Jones. I don’t blame Tom for feeling that way about the situation, but he’s clearly biased and Alex losing was the best outcome for him.

The media was 11 to 9 as well with 1 draw. Maths is hard?
The media is biased too. Just watch Ariel's post fight reaction. Nothing but cope, he kept whining about how it's such a big loss for the sport that Pereira lost. You have to remember that the media folks root for the fighters who give them the most clicks. They were all pulling for Alex whether they admitted it or not.

Ank just does the necessary to win in his fights, since Alex was not doing much, Ank just got the control over the ring, landed few more strikes and pressed him on the cage

that's why some people maybe had some doubts (the lack of action), but for me it was pretty sure that Ank won, even though it was just the enough with only one great round

He also said the people who found it boring were uneducated. Look, the fight was boring, doesn't mean there wasn't good strategy or that Ank's boxing wasn't fast and sharp etc. Fight was boring AF.

It's how you score round 3, I gave it to Alex but the round sucked and was close. Alex outlanded him 1.5 to 1, but Alex landed more leg kicks which have always counted for less in MMA, the most "consequential" punch was an Ank jab, Ank was more aggressive. It's a close round without doubt.

He's just salty the UFC wanted to make Jones x Pereira before he got his shot because it was the much more lucrative/bigger fight as no one cares about Aspinall outside of hardcore fans, so him pushing the narrative that Pereira was destroyed and dominated by Ankalaev is convenient for him as it keeps Pereira from talks about ever fighting Jones

Just sour grapes and jealousy from his end, all there is to it

It would not have been crazy to call it a draw. It was a close fight if you are using the 10 point must, no way around it. Alex could have gotten 1, 3 or 5 without it being total insanity. Or 3 and 5 could have been even.

Most people who think it was a "clear win" for Ank, score the fight as a whole. When you go back and actually score the rounds, you'll quickly notice that there wasn't much to separate them in rounds 3 and 5. There was nothing clear about either round for Ankalaev.
