Asian characters in fighter tattoos

There was a sherdog thread a while back where a member got a Japanese tattoo saying Shogun Pride or some shit, in support of Shogun. Someone pointed out, the symbol actually means Shogun's Milk ...fucken hilarious

How come so many of these translations are repeat words? Do you need both characters to say "to sacrifice" because it's grammatically incorrect by itself?

These two characters are almost always used together when saying "sacrifice". Some Asian words are just like that where each character in the word also means something similar to the word itself. Like brave 勇敢 for example, both characters also mean brave separately.

It's like an English word with two root words that mean similar things. For example "cocomitant" which means "naturally occurring together" which has "co-" and "com-" as roots, both of which mean together.

Huh, every time I saw that logo on a fighter I was like "What the hell is that? I see it on a lot of fighters, I should Google that" but never bothered to ever look it up. You learn something every day here lol

I didnt grow up wrestling traditionally but did submission grappling for years training with many o’ men with this tattoo. Im pretty sure in the wrestling community when one earns “All-American” status, they are the ones that typically will get the logo afterwards. I may be wrong but was told this also....
