Arman is the clear #1 contender and history demands this rematch with Islam happens. Its bizarre how so many people on here insist he's punitively punished for cancelling a single fight in his 12 UFC fights.

How in the world do you not want to see the two best guys fight?

I don't want or need to see Justin Gaethje get wrecked in a THIRD title shot. The best guys mop the floor with the guys who mop the floor with Justin. He's not even remotely in the picture, its absurd.

I guess Charles vs Hooker for the guy after. Seems like delayed #1 contender. Justin Bias, Islam wants him also + Arman deserves it. So that is the #1 contender. Next best thing for Charles is Hooker. I mean if Ilia doesn't get a title fight, but who else gets it. We bout to see. Better have too many contenders than none.

I mean, no shit. Justin might have had a minor argument if he beat Hooker, the only other high ranked guy than Arman who actually has a ranked streak. This is why being a "company guy" to beat a lesser fighter with less preparation shouldn't be promised with rewards of better booking. Justin saved the card? Cool, pay him better and book him where he's supposed to be from that win.

Arman should still get next. I don't care that he had to pull out. If he was the most deserving before then he still is. He didn't lose, he got injured.

This. Even if people try to play the "he doesn't deserve it" card, Islam for sure deserves to extend his legacy over the best fighters in the division, and that's Arman.

The thing I blame more on Arman is the fact that this came after the suspension. You swing at a fan for a finger? Get your ass suspended for 9 months on your way to a title eliminator? Could have had his shot in the summer of 24 and we'd be past this. I don't see canceling the fight as a huge problem, but it is a small one at a time where you know damn well that you should avoid problems.

Still though, we're punishing Islam here too. He's got 4 defenses and his biggest stamp on the division was when he won the title. Volk deserved his shot, so sure, he had to defend his division, but it wasn't some LW contender. Then his Charles rematch gets flipped and it's Volk again so it's again not a LW contender. Then he's ready when no one else is, so he fights Dustin, who was not at all the LW contender. Then Arman pulls out, and it's Moicano, who was far and away not a LW contender. Now, with 2 wins over the FW great Volk and that narrative of FW defenses already existing, there's 2 more in Ilia and Max coming to the division. If the UFC isn't careful, they're gonna have a GOAT argument champ with no defenses over his contenders.
