But Schlob is a joke thief too. His bit about Michael Jackson coming to his house is basically a copy from Eddie Murphy's Raw, with a few small tweaks.

Schaub is a once-in-ever idiot, but if you think for a millisecond that he wouldn't blast Helwani's pea head into the cheap seats I have a very large bridge to sell you.
 
I am in the minority that actually fine Brendan entertaining/funny.

Ariel is such a whiny bitch. Asking how did fighting go and how did football go? He literally made it to the highest level in both bro lol. His comedy career is actually going fairly well. He is touring all the time and selling out a lot of smaller venues. Believe he may have a Netflix special coming out shortly as well.

people can hate on Brendan all they want…but it’s a pretty big stretch to pretend he hasn’t been successful in the endeavors he has chosen

Eh, you could say highest level of fighting, but he never made it to the highest level of football, he went undrafted and cut from a practice squad. Hell he never even excelled at the college level, he had 3 total tackles and 12 scrimmage yards in his college career. As for comedy, he recently had to cancel shows and combine tickets sold from different shows and it still didn't come close to selling out a small venue. Not to mention the comedy special he did put out is universally panned and is pretty much a punchline in the comedy world.

This is truly a very bizarre take tho from Ariel. The fighters make his show and he just inadvertently revealed that if you never get a title you are a loser, which makes like 90% of the people on his show losers. Schaub def is not very funny or bright, he is hyper privileged and was given everything on a silver platter, but he has mad hustle and his shows are doing really, really well. It is really a stretch to call that a failure. Even making the NFL practice squad is elite AF, very bizarre put down when that was not even your main gig.

This critique only works if you remove all of the context from this interaction. Schaub was the one insulting Ariel's career and claiming that he's basically a loser who nobody likes and has been fired from every job that he's ever had.

Ariel is a dude who started an MMA fan podcast and ended up working for some of the biggest media companies on the planet. Irrespective of what you think of his personality, he's been very successful in a space (MMA "journalism") where it's almost impossible to make money. Most of the big name MMA writers and commentators who were around a decade ago are working in completely different fields now.

Schaub is only where he is as a talking head because Rogan gave him charitable exposure. If the guy had come up on his own, nobody would've ever hired him for anything. Literally any random poster on MMA YouTube videos has better insight into the sport than Schaub does.
