Are UFC heavyweights just obese?

BMI doesn't take into account individual genstics. I'm 6 foot and got a flat stomach at 105 kg. I'm currently 120 kg but my bloodwork, blood pressure, cholesterole is healthy. Definitely not optimal weight, belly fat is not healthy.

Also depends a lot on bf.

Bmi has to be taken with a grain of salt, everyone is built different.

Dan Henderson here is bordeline obese according to BMI calculations.

Though to be fair, Hendo cheats BMI by being built out of stoneware, or something.

Im obese then. According to those things I’ve supposed to weigh no more than 170 and I’m 6’3” with a wide shoulders and large frame.

When I get down to 205-200 I look skinny. At 170 I would be a pencil.

Tiny by sherbro standards I know

Ive been going on diet lately and i was lookin at my BMI (body mass index). Im right at normal weight.

but according the calculator, basically every UFC HW is not just overweight, but OBESE.

Feel free to plug in yourself or ur fav fighter to see if they are fit or obese. I know guys cut weight so its harder to analyze the lighter weight classes, but most HWs dont cut weight at all.

brock lesnar at 6’3 265 is morbidly obese.
Learn to think for yourself. Only three data points (gender, height, weight) to determine healthy weight is ridiculously inadequate and it always blows my mind that anyone approaching normal intelligence can't see that...but I realize you're almost definitely trolling.

Most are.

The percentage of fat most carry around are above 24%, which iirc, is the threshold for obesity.

1. BMI is flawed.
2. Yes, most HWs are obese.

These things aren't mutually exclusive.

Some are clearly overweight, but imo those BMI calculators dont apply to any sort of athlete, or muscular body, Costa probably shows up as overweight when the man is jacked AF.

Most middle weights walk around as heavy weights.
The reason why so many heavy weights are fat is because the ones that have a low body fat percentage drop weight to fight in a lower weight class.

Muscle is heavier than fat.

Heavily muscled people register as obese on the bmi index.
Technically it’s not heavier just denser, so a lb. or kg of muscle takes up a lot less space. So clothes fit better if you have relatively high muscle mass and low body fat, even if you weigh more.

UFC fans are obese. Except Sherdoggers. Fat can't even find a place to hide an all that rippling protein, for Josh's sake...
