Are UFC heavyweights just obese?

This thread gets made once a week so let me explain it again: the chubby UFC HWs look how most 5’10-6’2 people look if they bulk up to 265lbs+. You biologically can’t be shredded at 265lbs without significant steroid use, unless you’re freakishly tall to where that’s a lean weight for you (NBA players), and even then those athletes also use steroids.

People who are tall and ripped at that size with athleticism go into real, high paying sports like NFL, NBA, etc and make millions, not Dana’s circus sideshow for 12k/12k. That’s why there’s a perception of HWs being fat, lazy and not training. That’s not the case, they simply look the same way anyone would at that weight without either being 6’6+ or on an Ubereem-level PED cycle.
I dont think nba players are on roids.

So the percentage of the population that would be the size to be a natural or proper heavyweight like Ngannou is very small already. The amount of people like that who like fighting is even smaller, now those who like fighting and are actually good at it is even smaller. Now that little percentage of population would also actually have to choose to compete in MMA opposed to boxing or other combat sports.

Not hard to understand why we don't have 100 ultimate warrior looking guys fighting at HW, add to that the fact it isn't as easy to roid and you have the answer why most HW look the way they look.
You guys get lost in the sauce, MMA is growing steadily but we don't live in a society where everything is dictated by who is the best hand to hand combatant. The way to become a fighter is super hard and while I know most of Sherdog believe they could probably be a pro fighter if they tried, reality is you probably would not even make it to a LFA prelim.

They aren’t. Would you call Ngannou, Jones, Gane, Blaydes, Aspinall, Pavlovich, Volkov, Almeida obese?

Probably not but those are not the majority of the HW's. Besides how many of those would be able to go to LHW if they dropped some weight. Jones is LHW fighter. Hell Gormier just ate and won the HW title. He was super obese.

A lot of heavyweights in both boxing, mma and other combat sports are simply lazy cruiser or light heavies.

BMI is a terrible system fitting of our terrible medical system.

I always knew Brock Lesnar was just a obese fat fuck. Thanks for confirming it today.

Out of these only Jones and Almeida could make 205. Ngannou, Gane, Blaydes, Aspinall, Volkov are natural HWs

BMI is generally worthless.

Easy way to generally determine your fatness or fitness is to measure your waist at the bellybutton. An ideal weight would show a waist that is half your height (e.g. 36 inch waist for a 6 foot tall person).

Two inches over that halfway mark and you’re chonk. Thicc. Five inches and over … well, you’re just fat af.
