Are Brawlers with KO power the absolute worst match up for strikers?

Elite technical striker vs Elite brawler that’s some shit that gets the people watching! Usually the brawler gets picked apart though

I would say humpers are the worst matchup for strikers

No, brawlers will typically get picked apart by the technical fighter; unless the technical fighter starts staying in the pocket and engaging. Distance, footwork, patience, counter.

Wrestlers with an explosive shot and boxing clean enough to work themselves close are the hard matchup stylistically

No, that's like they're dream match up. Unless you're Big Frank of course, but he's getting better (he's no Chris Leben) and he's chucking Ford escorts, so.

Prime Anderson Silva made every top striker look like an amateur

Silva didn't face many elite strikers either during his reign of terror. Rich and Belfort were kind of the only ones.

Leben - brawler
Lutter - BJJ
Nate - BJJ
Leites - BJJ
Maia - BJJ
Henderson - wrestler
Okami - wrestler
Sonnen - wrestler
Bonnar - brawler
Cote - kickboxer but not elite.

Edit: Griffin - kickboxer/brawler, not elite

Who are you calling an elite brawler in MMA?
Fedor was an elite brawler while he did not have very techical boxing he could very effectively swarm lesser fighters with mass looping hooks and overhands. Another elite brawler was Shogun, Another is Tony.

The danger of brawlers would be when they have insane chins.

It might not be best for longevity but it's pretty fun to watch.

it's the opposite skilled strikers are brawlers kryptonite.

Of course someone with one punch KO power can beat anyone, but in general the skilled striker wins.

Nah, wrestlers with sneaky striking. Please see Chael v. Silva 1.

Fedor comes to mind as an elite brawler, he did not have very technical striking but he used his speed and power to overwhelm lesser fighters with massed looping overhands and wide hooks. Others are shogun, Griffin, Tony, diaz brothers and Gaetje.

Relying on your chin & knockout power only gets you so far these days.

You run into a guy with composure in the pocket, head movement, and precise punches, you're probably going to get shut off or soundly out-pointed.

There are two kinds of strikers: martial artists and face-punchers. Both are effective and can have success against one another on any given night depending on the fighters.

He only fought three top strikers his entire career.........Vitor, Franklin and Hendo.
Lol, what a retarded fanboi, your answer is in touch with your join date. (No need to tell you just got banned again mate)

Rich Franklin certainly was a bum, proof being Silva was the underdog before breaking his nose.

And let's not forget Griffin, who was the LHW champion one fight prior to that fight who never got bested by any fighter ever.
Silly stuff, I bet you wanted to watch GSP decision people with his stupid blanket, that's what we call exciting! <45>
