Ur gonna compare that crap with the thousands of epic fight movies lol.

No...your right

The average movie fan would much rather see a character like Derrick Lewis than somebody like royce Gracie in the ring and on their screen

*ufc knows this

Not just the average movie fan. Just people in general. Punches and kicks are always cooler than grappling. It sucks but thats what it is. In mma, getting submitted is bad, but getting brutally KO’d is worse. And as far as aesthetically speaking, striking is just more fun.

you are 100% correct

HOWEVER

its largely cultural as in japan they HEAVILY APPRECIATE technical grappling whereas in the USA its all about tank vs kimbo

I believe that the UFC is trying to eliminate grappling via referee stand ups so they can have fake wrasslin style "beatdowns"

Wrestling is the most important aspect of MMA and Americans do it from school age.

Maybe less people are getting into it as the money isn't that great.

Russia will become a dominant force in MMA because their wrestling program has a lot of people that wont make it to the Olympics that want a professional outlet.

If Pankration becomes an Olympic sport again then watch out.
USADA will stop Russia.

I was about to like your post, guerilla, which I mostly agree with.

Then you say "UFC is trying to eliminate grappling via referee stand ups", I'm like.. <codychoke>

Brazilian jiu-jitsu dominated MMA in the beginning and that's why there are thousands of Brazilian jiu-jitsu gyms all over the country.

wrestling dominates MMA now and you can't find a wrestling as a martial art gym anywhere in the entire country!

When have you ever seen a "wrestling" gym?

wrestling might get included as some kind of Sideshow in the martial arts Buffet line at your Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gym but you will never find a wrestling exclusive gym.
Cuz it's offered at school for free in America. Why the hell would you pay to go to a wrestling gym when you can learn it at school for free, AND have guaranteed quality instruction with regular competitions?

Why not just practice MMA rather than seperate your standup and grapplng?
If you need to improve on a certain skill set then it helps to train the art individually. If you're struggling with grappling, then you should probably devote a certain amount of time each day to just learning grappling.

No they don’t m. Japanese fans think grappling is gay too. They’re just too polite to let you know their real feelings with loud boos.

Americans are falling behind in the sense that we’re getting great non American athletes. However America is not falling behind. All those great non American athletes like Ngannou and Khabib train in America. The best gyms are taking all those great athletes and the evolution of training methods takes place in America.

Japan used to have top of the line training but they didn’t keep up with the sports evolution and now they’re 4 generations behind, still training like the lions den but with no weight cutting. Brazil used to have great training but now they’re 2 generations behind, still training guys to use that outdated BJJ/ Wild “Muay Thai” style.

America stands alone at the top.

they are a smart organization just trying the give the fans what they want
