Are Americans falling behind in MMA?

26 years ago no-holds-barred fighting was supposed to prove what the greatest martial art was, here we are today and I think the answer is pretty clear mixed martial arts as a style is superior to every other discipline ever created however I've noticed that the United States has fewer mixed martial arts gyms then I expected by now.

I expected mixed martial arts to take over the world but today if you search for MMA on Google Maps 99% of the results will be Brazilian jiu-jitsu gyms.

Royce Gracie was a Phenom No Doubt but we don't see anybody walking into the ring in a Jiu-Jitsu Gi nowadays however 99% of your training opportunities in 99% of America's hometowns is traditional Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

why has Brazilian jiu-jitsu dominated the the American martial arts market for so many years and it's almost impossible to find pure mixed martial arts as a style in most of America's towns?

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu doesn't have video games or TV shows or betting odds like MMA however it dominates the martial arts Marketplace!

I really feel like the rest of the world is leaving America in the dust and the fact that we are the biggest country with the best technology and the best athletes and still don't dominate the grappling Sports and MMA is a bit of a cluster.

In a lot of countries the state actually has free gymnasiums where people can go train in Combat Athletics meanwhile in America all our training opportunitys are private for-profit businesses who sweat liability and prioritize profits.

don't let the UFC rankings fool you,
I don't think the UFC has the best fighters in the world I think they put on the best fights in the world there's a difference!
MMA started in America, so naturally that is where most of the fighters come from. but as the sport has spread around the globe, the percentage of american fighters in UFC has dropped, as one would expect.
not sure about your statement that america has the best athletes, do you mean in general or in mma?
the top 3 watched sports in the world are dominated by other countries than the US
the fact that BJJ as a martial art is dominating most gyms is because most people who want to find a place to train doesn't like to get punched in the face. BJJ is a more "comfortable" training method for the average Joe

Actually the Japanese invented MMA in 85
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooto

good point about people looking for a more comfortable way to train as legit MMA is hard core

One can teach MMA to anyone

You just have to modify it

You can make MMA zero contact if you want to it's all about common sense

America has the most athletic athletes this is not a joke but a result of excellent nutrition and civil infrastructure

Unfortunately the way we train is inferior and thus we are falling behind in MMA

it takes creativity to build an mma gym? okay.

Actually it takes mostly stupidity because there's no profit in straight MMA

Smart gym owners have nine different martial arts they teach under the flag of MMA

That's the only way you're going to cover rent, utilities, upkeep, equipment and insurance in the United States

Video not available in my country. Wanted to watch this for a long time, you know of any alternative mirrors? Can't find a DL either.

Its basically a video of Ramzan Kadyrovs kid in an MMA contest sanctioned by the
"military government" in old soviet bloc Chechnya

compiled data from...

UFC FIGHT NIGHT 154
UFC espn 3 Ngannou VS Santos
UFC 239

Americans won 3/4 international matches!!!

but only headlined 1/6 events!!!

hmm, still sounds like Americans are falling behind in MMA overall

USA wins 1 of 3 international match ups

USA wins 2 of 6 international match ups

USA wins 2 of 6 international match-ups [one safespace DQ]

THE CUMULATIVE USA win percentage in the last 3 Bellators is 33.33%

Are Americans falling behind IN THEIR own BIGGEST MMA tournaments???

sure looks like AMERICANS ARE FALLING BEHIND IN MMA!!!!!

Of course. The only reason why the champions aren't all Austrians is because MMA isn't well known in Austria yet. In 20 years UFC will have like 10 Austrian champs.

college athletes will make more Money than 99,99 of MMA fighters

rip comba sport

You give MMA way too much credit by calling it a D level sport. It is not a sport at all. Sports are things where real athletes compete in legit competition to find out who is the best in the world.

MMA is something that kids who were bullied by real athletes in high school and soccer moms do. MMA is not legit competition and is more similar to pro wrestling in the way the "champ" is determined. MMA is something where NFL washouts and pro wrestlers can come in and destroy "greats" with minimal training.

It is a place for bullied nerds and soccer moms to come in and fight other trash talent and pretend they are the best in the world at something. When someone like Russell Westbrook would destroy any MMA fighter in the world in a street fight.
Khabib would beat Westbrook within 3 minutes

Main event: Nigeria/New Zealand - Cuba
Co-Main: China - Poland

Hype presser only 25% Murican
Dagestan - 50% Mexico/50% Murica

USA seems to be fading slowly into Bolivia
