Are all real estate agents a-holes??

once an ad is posted real estate sells its self.

What do the agents even do, seems like a scam everybody has just accepted.

I will say that a lot of agents are clueless and don't do much due to the low barrier of entry, but a lot of "for sale by owner" sellers get a wake up call that they have no clue what they are doing once they find a buyer. "Oh, I need a purchase agreement?" "Why does he need an inspection?" "Where do I get this disclosure?" etc. I'm in the title industry and we've recently kicked up our closing fee to handle FSBO purchases. It's a total pain in the ass. We've literally had a buyer + lender show up and no seller. "We scheduled this for today at 10, where is the seller? You didn't tell them?" "Uhh, no, we literally do not even have his phone # as the order came from the lender and the purchase agreement didn't have it. We aren't your realtor...."

Maybe it's you
^ this.

Most people, that i have experienced who struggle with more than one agent tend to have expectations for their property that are completely out of whack and then blame the agent and 'their excuses' for the lack of success.

If it was true you were picking all legit a-holes that would say something about your ability to judge people and pick people to work with even when you have 100% of the power of selection.

Getting into real estate has a pretty low barrier to entry, so you are going to get all kinds of people doing it. My mom was an agent and she kicked ass at it, but she dealt with quite a few crappy ones and had to drag their ass through the whole process.
Ya but the crappy ones do not last. The career has about a 3 year max wash out for most of those.

So you pick a person with more experience with that, and you spend some time examining their listing history. Do they currently have other listing? How many? How many sold last, 30, 60, 90 days and 12 months.

If you want to take a flier and instead work with a young new entrant, to give them a break, that is great, but know then you make choose an A-hole who has not washed out yet.

I just hate the inflated self importance many of them have. You’re a useless middleman leach that could be replaced by an app on our phones, humble yourself.

Some of them should be truly grateful they still have jobs. There are good ones and I deal with one exclusively for most of my business dealings but the majority of them are worthless, do nothings that collect a cheque for nothing.

I thought initially the lady I was dealing with was just a bad egg - but then I found he colleague to be even worse.
And then a male colleague - an equal level of fuck face.

And then I contact another agency - and this bitch is being snippy down the phone.

So I'm thinking - it's gotta be something to do with their line of work.
Maybe they get different people on their case about a certain house or apartment they want, and as a preemptive measure to disappointing them with bad news that they sold or rented it to a higher bidder - they just incite an asshole line of communication from the get go.
Something like that?

'Splain it to me!!??

I deal with Real Estate and have been in the business for nearly 15 years now. I will say that a large chunk of agents are either lazy, scummy, greedy or lack knowledge. Or all of the above. The sad thing is there is a very small percent who are actually solid and take really good care of their clients. The industry is very congested with people just looking to make fast money.

Of course, now we have a ton of agents looking to be social media stars. They seem to highlight their cars and outfits more then the homes they are trying to sell.

The reality is, a solid agent will negotiate the best deal possible for you while keep you legally safe and taken care of. They will also assist you in virtually every facet of your sell or purchase which can be a huge mental strain on most people.

Interview them deligently. Dont just go with that friend of a friend or your aunt, just cause. Choose wisely.
