but people are underestimating askren. he may not be a gifted boxer, but he is still a gifted athlete, and a disciplined worker. he is capable of becoming a much better boxer than his lowlights suggests. true he basically only used striking in mma to set up takedowns, but it would be a stretch to conclude that he is incapable of standing. i don’t expect ben to come out looking like lomachenko, but he will know a few combinations well enough to land them consistently, and paul will have to work.

The fight is in a month, and I'm pretty sure Paul has been boxing for years.

Probably because there is a guarantee and then probably rises depending on sales.

Ben seems like a savvy investor as far as fighters go. Simple lifestyle, no vices or anything.
A couple mil to retire on for good either way.
I think he found out he couldn't compete at the top 5 level in MMA so he left at the right time since he couldn't be champ.
Compared to guys like Lawler and Mas, a loss vs JP will be exponentially more lucrative than it is dangerous.

Ben had his wrestling to fall back on, he got hit with a bomb that almost put him out. In boxing he's not going to have the wrestling to stop the punches and the clinching will only help him from taking punishment for awhile. If that's his only strategy he will eventually get hit coming in to clinch over and over again. Plus the clinch will be separated, it's boxing. Also Jake Paul fights in the clinch and when he breaks out of the clinch. It's usually when he gets some of his hardest hits in. So it's not really the best strategy for Askren.
 
Ben is going to get his ass beat, the vast majority of first time boxers would beat him too after a few months.

Maybe he can survive by hugging his way to the final bell, but don't expect him to actually look good in a single exchange.
 
Ben is getting Knocked out in the first three rounds. You can bet the bank on it. Jake is tall, fast, athletic, in his youthful prime, and has great power. Ben won't even touch Jake he's just gonna be a punching bag trying to zombie walk forward in to a clinch.

Yeah I think he realized he couldn't win the belt and probably had a contract heavy on bumps for wins. There was no way UFC was going to pay him what he thought he was worth.

Yep nice retirement money. Hope he wins but his being setup to fail.

To a decision, but i doubt they give him the fight if he just stalls it for 6-8 or whatever rounds it will be.

So does Mike Perry
At least Ben had top wrestling in MMA and allowed him win two titles in two orgs.
Mike has KO power, even though he didn't finish anyone in the last 3 and a half years, I believe.

Askren should lose the boxing match, unfortunately for MMA.
