Think it’s a matter of managing expectations relative to how long he’s been doing this.

I believe his evolution and progression has been going quite well and we’re seeing rapid improvements in a very short period of time.

Logan’s a lot further along. Which is to be expected. Older bro and he’s the one who started the trend. But Jake is doing a lot of things which highlight a lot of natural talent and potential in the sport.

Definitely still learning, but again, we aren’t expecting professional or even proficient amateur level here. Cast all that aside, remove YouTube from the equation and he’s doing quite well.

he does have a pretty good jab actually. Logan’s is a lot better but he has a jab, for sure.

Again, I think you and others need to look at all the available data and footage before jumping to any conclusions. There’s a whole lot of stuff where he looks fairly unimpressive and vice versa.

Think a lot of people are coming at this shit pretty biased without realizing it.
Please watch the first video you just posted. He jabs from below his chin and it never returns to his chin. Same with his opposite hand; it doesn't protect his face when he jabs. Where is his coaching to correct this? They only care about output? Do you train?

Because Mike Perry himself is a Boxing expert we should listen too.

LOL. Thanks for posting that. I'd forgotten all about Perry's one & done foray into the ring as a pro boxer.

Yes I train

bro what are you expecting

It’s a matter of being objective

he does a lot of things very well and has to work on others.

like I said, there’s a lot of footage where he looks relatively unimpressive. Others where he impresses. More so his brother, but Jake is also coming along.

It’s a matter of considering every piece of available data and footage as a whole rather than forming any absolute conclusions on a single clip.

Bigger picture. Like any reasonable analysis.

You could cherry pick footage about a wide variety of fighters and paint some skewed image. It’s never going to tell you the full tale.

Combine that with some level of bias and preconceived notions and the waters get pretty muddy.

Quite a lot of pros and fighters who’ve been in the gym with him have spoken highly of him as well.

But you already have him written off and want to judge him entirely on singular clips.

it’s just sloppy bud

I agree there’s levels to boxing. But I think it’s a matter of reasonable expectations. It’s silly to uphold a relative amateur to professional level standards.

for where he’s at, he has some natural talent in the sport, potential, is progressing quickly, training hard with the correct trainers and sparring partners. All things considered, he’s doing well.

a step behind his brother but still worthy of some respect.

After watching the videos of Paul sparring and his last "fight", I'm afraid Ben, even with his awful striking, will beat Paul.

LOL You post video footage and say watch this technical brilliance. I point out the flaws and now you talk about pros and other fighters who want to hype up the fight. I will stick to my original premise that he is a brawler who is learning the craft. You also keep bringing up his brother like it matters

I never said anything about “technical brilliance”. Don’t put words In my mouth.

I said he’s technical and is training to be so.

Doesn’t mean he’s without his flaws and amateurish mistakes.

you were trying to argue that he’s a brawler based on very limited and fairly old sparring footage. When we’re talking about a fighter who probably completely changes every few months.

A lot of us have natural brawling instincts in a fight. Especially at first. Those instincts and habits are drilled out of us over time and we become more tactical.

That’s what I think we’ve seen from Jake, more so than how hed actually like to fight.

by comparison, in his last fight, there was a lot more intelligence, patience and tactics.

DC gave him some respect. Rogan, Mosley, Judah, Ryan Garcia. Perry, Masvidal.

question is what are they seeing that you aren’t. Nobody needs to act like he’s some legit amateur national champion or some shit, but he deserves some credit.

I'm expecting ben to get boxed up but not quite stopped.

Ben's definitely the better fighter of the 2, but no chance he's a better boxer. Not even an equal in boxing, I just can't help but be prepared to see MMA take some ugly Ls that night. Mir vs. Tarver will be even worse
Wait mir is boxing tarver??? Also I completely agree if it's a straight fight Ben rips him to the ground and eats him, boxing however he seems to have almost no ability to learn for whatever reason. Hes been a pro fighter for over a decade and still looks like some unathletic buddy trying to hit a punching bag for the first time.

The amount of money Ben is being payed is most likely life changing, I'd take the fight in his shoes under the same conditions.

I think if Ben loses your going to see Dana become obsessed with teaching the punk Paul a lesson. He'll have no problem letting someone go destroy Paul in one off fight.

Ya. Everything casuals know about Ben is brutal losses. I wonder if that stings, given his prior success.

He is a sloppy brawler by watching his training videos. Why don't you just flat out say you are a fan of his youtube videos? You are a fan and given time you hope that he can improve. This whole talking about technical ability doesn't exist.

Never watched them

I see a lot of things he’s doing poorly but a lot of diamonds in the rough as well. He’s got potential. Jab and left hook look to be coming along nicely.

Guess we’ll just have to see what happens in April. You’re going with Askren right?

I know Mir should lose vs Tarver, but the guy is 52 years old. I have a feeling that his age will play a huge part in this fight. I also think Ben can tire Jake out and win. Most likely both will lose, but to act like there isn't a chance for either one is a bit silly imo.

What a stupid post. Ben literally looks like a retard trying to strike. This isn't a wrestling match, if he dares to show up he's getting KO'd stiff.

Lol Helax Extra, it was mostly a Joke, and nowhere in my post did I acknowledge Ben Askren as a Striker so nice job attacking that Strawman buddy, you get em.
