that's not what he saidYou're not the greatest UFC striker if you're getting KO'd by average fighters. Might as well ask why Khalil Rountree is never brought up.

TS: He never pops up in the "greatest UFC strikers of all time" discussionsthat's not what he said
In all fairness, he had something like 95 fights before this match. But yes, it squashes all hype. The hype came and left. It's hard for people to think you're a feared K1 striker when some random mma guy finishes you on the feet. People moved on after that.
Maurice Smith should be included. 3x champion in ISKA and WKA and had 77 matches.Because behind only Semmy Schilt (and debatably Alex Pereira), he's the most decorated kickboxer who ever fought in the UFC?
Man Semmy Schilt fighting in the UFC is also so weird to me.
I clearly mentioned Mo Smith in my original postMaurice Smith should be included. 3x champion in ISKA and WKA and had 77 matches.
He fought (and lost) to Khalil Rountree on the main card UFC 226.
Why didn't I know this
He never pops up in the "greatest UFC strikers of all time" discussions where people regularly mention Art Jimmerson and Maurice Smith
Would have ko'd most people
I see that now, sorry. He never gets the love.I clearly mentioned Mo Smith in my original post
That's why I typed this.Would have ko'd most people
I'm not. But the difference in gloves can negate any kind of exceptional striking skill someone can have when they are going against someone with the same gloves.
In some ways, you can see that in Overeem too. When he gets stunned, his hands go up like he is wearing the big gloves.I reckon that fight really showed how much some kickboxers rely on the big gloves for defence, Khalil got through his hands nicely. Also showed how much Rountree's striking has come along, that dude is lethal on the feet now.
It is like a murderous shot. That's why I typed this.
Not outclassed, just KO'd in the area he is best at.He threw a kick with his hands down. The Neanderthals in this thread are accepting like he got outclassed for 15 minutes.
dude looking at the threads you make. you either just started following mma last year or are a complete fucking noob.He fought (and lost) to Khalil Rountree on the main card UFC 226.

I'd like to think he clarified what he meant when he saidTS: He never pops up in the "greatest UFC strikers of all time" discussions
just like the most decorated boxer is james toney, but did you see him against randy?Because behind only Semmy Schilt (and debatably Alex Pereira), he's the most decorated kickboxer who ever fought in the UFC?
Do Overoid, Cro Cop, Kongo, Valentina and Izzy not count?Because behind only Semmy Schilt (and debatably Alex Pereira), he's the most decorated kickboxer who ever fought in the UFC?

He isn't a high level, decorated striker, he's a good MMA striker. I was just pointing out why Saki, who's kickboxing experience is absolutely enormous, wasn't touted as highly as Alex is currently being touted, or Jimmerson Maurice Smith as TS mentioned.Since when is Rountree some bum striker? He trained in Thailand and has tons of KOs in UFC
Yeah. Saki was a legend, just too shop worn too. Had a bunch of injuries so he never came back.In all fairness, he had something like 95 fights before this match. But yes, it squashes all hype.
