I haven't really watched this film, saw plenty of clips of it.

But I finally watched the whole thing. It's decent at best, nothing to harp about.

Charlie Sheen character arc is quite a roller coaster ride to say the least. (Oh yeah Charlie was like only 21 in this film)

I don't know if they made a TV series based on this film, but I think they should.

A 2 hour movie doesn't show all ins and outs of everything in that world imo.

I just find Charlie character going one end to another so quickly it seemed unrealistic.

Btw I've never seen Wolf of Wall Street. So it probably has a better take on that time period.

Michael Douglas was amazing. Probably his best work.

Daryl Hannah was eye candy, nothing else much there.

Overall I gave it a 6.

Also, how much is enough? : - )

Saw it once. Douglass as Gordon Gekko makes the film, and was a great performance. Decent story, and was done before it was a cliche story. The film itself basically wrote the playbook for all of the “stock brokers get rich doing shady shit, but it all falls apart” films after it, eg Biolier Room, Wolf of Wall Street, etc. 8/10

Thanks for your review.

Haven't seen it in years. I remember thinking it was pretty good so I gave it an 8.
Although it's not on my list of rewatchable movies

Wolf of Wall Street was is a good movie but it's disappointing in regards to showing the ins and outs of Wall Street trading. Basically Leo just gets on the phone and sells people on bad investments. It has nothing to do with trading stock. They should've called it the wolf of telemarketing.

IMO the movie with the best example of what wall street is really like is margin call.

I've always had a bit of an obsession with trading room floors which I don't know why so I adored it. I might watch it again today even.

Boiler Room was pretty epic, Affleck's Ferrari speech still gives me goosebumps.
Have you seen Glengarry Glen Ross?

I couldn't enjoy boiler room because it seemed like a rip off of Glengarry right down to the Affleck speech.

But I've often wondered if I'd seen boiler room first, would I like that one better?

I have and probably should again, it's currently on Broadway with Kieran Culkin and Bob Odenkirk which I would love to see. Not for many years but used to thrive in the thrill of the deal career wise so anything to do with trading rooms or good sales success movies I was all over.

Best line in the movie was Terrence Stamp.

"You're a two-bit pirate and greenmailer. Nothing more Gekko. Not only would you sell your mother to make a deal, you'd send her C.O.D."

Watched it in films class in high school. Very good but not at the level of great

Mamet and Baldwin bless. Glengarry is my top 10 all-time though so a bit biased.

My thoughts exactly when I saw Boiler Room.

Some movies are only rewatchable after you haven't seen them in a while
