I respect the fact that he finally got in there with a legit threat instead of beating up washed MMA fighters from smaller weight classes.

I would've been happy with him fighting other guys like Tommy fury though, he didn't have to go nuts and fight AJ lol.

But I don't respect the performance. AJ was clearly carrying him for those first few rounds, and when AJ actually started fighting, Jake started diving for MMA takedowns and shit. Which was pretty ridiculous.

It kinda reminded me of the old WWF days when Bobby Heenan or some other manager would end up in a match with a wrestler and they'd just run away the entire time.

They were lucky AJ even agreed to save the night last minute. So much money was at stake, it’s not a ppv, it’s netflex.

First it was supposed to be tank who got arrested.

Then they quickly ran to Ryan Garcia, and Oscar refused, and they asked for other GB fighters and Oscar said the promotional contracts would make this impossible.

Then they ran to Francis and he said it makes no sense to him.

Then came AJ and if he didnt agree the event would have been canceled. There was no time left to send any email or make any phone call. It was already a miracle that they managed to rush-produce this by then.

When Jake first approached AJ's team he asked for a fight in which he wouldn't get hurt. AJ told him no to his scripted fight request because "this is boxing". Just further proof that there was some kind of gentleman's agreement between them in this fight, as I initially suspected. Otherwise Jake wouldn't have taken it.

Who knows anymore.
I’m just as confused that Boxrec recently removed Jake’s Tyson fight on his Hybrid-rules record and put it in his official pro boxing record.

Now he has an empty HYB-slot on his boxrec page. Just bizzare.

We never even heard the term hybrid boxing before that. Logan’s floyd fight was just an exhibition. No monkey business.

Yeah all of these different BoxRec fight classifications now are quite confusing. Logan vs Floyd was an exhibition as you said and that's all AJ vs Jake should've been. Strangely enough Tank vs Jake was meant to be an exhibition but somehow AJ vs Jake wasn't.

If ever another covid-like pandemic hits, and more combat sports adopt an “apex arena” type format, I wouldnt be surprised if the broadcast get AI edits in the near future.

This threads the player haters ball lol. Play on Jake play on player.

This, lol

There's just no way he's ever winning any old heads over despite showing up, making weight, taking his lumps etc. All in front of the world on Netflix.

The Disney kid exploited a blind spot in the system and carved out a profitable pocket of the larger world of prizefighting for himself.

He did better than Tate by several orders of magnitude. And many here (not this sub forum, just the board in general) here thought Diaz/Perry/Anderson/Tyson would most likely beat the brakes off him before those bouts.
Only after he won did we decide everyone of them were too old/too small/paid to take a dive.. yada yada, so on and so on.
