are you kidding? it's easy as hell, the nose is right there, it depends a ton on the structure of a guys nose. Back in the early days of boxing, white guys commonly had smashed in noses because they typically have longer noses. Guys like Ali or Sugar ray leonard are fortunate that they have noses that don't protrude much but guys like Tommy hearns got his nose broke on his first day in the gym and it's still mishapen.I dont think its all that easy to break someones nose. youre right, its fairly uncommon at the pro circuit.
punches don't always land clean and a glancing punch that just catches and slides of the face can break the nose, that's more or less what happened to me. Afterwards, my nose started bleeding a lot easier and if I'd pursued the sport anymore, i'd have to have my nose cauterized.
The idea behind a lot of boxing training is to condition the body as much as possible for a fight, the medicine balls to the ribs and so one, the sparring, however, not everyone has the same durability. That, in itself is as important as talent in sports in general. Lots of talented guys just couldn't stay healthy long enough to achieve greatness, it's very important and one of the most special things about Ali, only cut once, a broken jaw and that was pretty much it for the superficial damage, not easy to do. Take a look at Joe Frazier in the 60's and then after 75. All boxers change from the sport, inside and outside.
