Anyone else more disappointed in RDR than amazed by Allen?

Not taking anything away from Brendan who was fearless and couldn't care less about grappling with RDR. Sometimes his mentality works out for the best.
It was impressive in that sense of course, so kudos to him!

Now to my point, did he actually shine on the mat or had just a slight edge over RDR, who is used to find escapes with BJJ? It seemed like Reinier didn't
have the cardio at all to actually work himself out when Allen adjusted on top. Maybe I'm too hard on him but that's kind of what it looked like to me.

Anyone else who expected him to have better cardio, good enough to be able to battle on the ground through out 5 rounds?

Yes. First round RDR looked good, I like how he took his time and was position over submission type of control. I thought second round was going to be more or the same, but Allen took top position and that spelled the end for RDR.

RDR kept opening his guard and got punished for it. He kept turning into armbar but didn’t have the arm and looked slow and sloppy. I didn’t get the impression that he’s a wizard on the ground, that looked bad. Dude was throwing up his legs hoping something would stick, but obviously Allen is no joke on the ground and kept it simple. Land gnp, keep on the pressure, land more gnp.

Maybe the huge weight cut did RDR in since he had nothing after the round two. He got beat up, sure, but that first round wasn’t exactly a sprint…

Wasn't amazed by either. Allen looked as good as he did because RDR had 6 minutes of cardio where he didn't even do that much to be dead after 6 minutes

Renier de Quitter.

I jest, but I’m glad to see a corner do the responsible thing for once. No fucking way he should have went out there for a 5th round. Not sure if bad weight cut or sick, but I’m surprised he gassed out like that

When RDR realized taking the back was not enough and he could not get up with Allen on top, he gave up. Good job by Allen to capitalize everytime he could with the GNP and his confidence in his backtake defense.

Reminded me of RDR's fight with GM3. Dude got so gassed so quick.

RDR kept going for that reverse triangle (he got it in ONE FC once) in the 2nd and 3rd and ate quite a lot of punches for it.

Probably was sick. Massive cardio issue. Never seen him gas like that. Props to Allen for getting it done.

His cardio looked terrible vs Bobby in a slower paced standup fight. I tried telling people that was a red flag with RDR. Bobby's gas tank looked just as bad, so RDR was able to squeak that one out.

i'm neither.. but that's prolly cause i didn't watch the fight haha. I watch fights through sherdog comments now.

They were FAIRLY evenly matched on the ground.

One of then CHOSE to inflict damage
The other CHOSE to only hunt submissions... in 2025

We saw how that worked out.

He beat Allens ass 10:8 in the first round
Problem is he gassed as early as second round. This shouls not happen at this level..he needa to adjust his training

And he fought Allen. Who like Fluffy wins mostly due to the gas tank

10-8 requires damage, RDR did none of that. Control doesn't equal damage, it was a dominant 10-9 round.

I don't have video on his One stuff which explains my lack of RDR knowledge, he looked really good in the first which in my mind says he actually is really good and not all hype.

Goin for armbars from his back in slow motion.... The game plan was so low IQ, it was stunning.

Bo Nickal murders this guy in a rematch. It's time to run that one back
