De Ridder Overrated? Allen Underrated?

This De Ridder guy is the same person who once claimed that he could easily run through both Izzy and Alex in the same night and that they'd be too afraid to ever fight him.

When you're making such bold statements as that, you'd better produce. He looked awful tonight.

Wow Whittaker really is washed!

Imagine what fluffy would've dont to RDR... SMH

Or maybe something was wrong. Gas tank was 0 from the start
He’s 35, with over 20 bouts, thats 20 plus training camps, Ridder is out of his prime, Brendan Allen also out of his prime.

What did RDR do to hurt so many feelings here? I know Whittaker fans tend to be super emotional and the Bathtubbers despise anyone calling out their champions, but this feels particularly venomous

I respect Rob but not particularly a fan, & I definitely don't ride with the bathtub brigade. I just felt like Allen was being disrespected and so many were crowning RDR as the biggest threat to Khamzat which is clearly Imavov & Fluffy(for different reasons).

Ah, that makes sense. Good old fashioned hype-backlash

De ridder is clearly good. Or he wouldn't have dominated Allen early and beat Whitaker. His cardio just failed him when he made a mistake and lost position in the 2nd. Whether thats illness like he said or not being prepared enough thats up for debate.

Brendan Allen is a nightmare stylistic matchup with his grappling skill and style centered around ground-and-pound

RDR had legitimate wins. I don't think he was all that overrated, though I don't think he was ever going to be a proper title threat.

Allen is always a bit underrated in my opinion, but more than that I don't think people acknowledged how good of a stylistic match-up this was for him. Look at the archetype RDR represents and then look at Allen's resume... Muniz, Craig, Daukaus, etc. The guy has a knack for beating up Black Belts and submission specialists.

Non-norovirus RDR, or NNVRDR for short, would smoke Allen-eh. But turns out having explosive diarrhea and flu like symptoms empties your gas tank faster than a $2 hooked in NYC.

Allen has had too many fights in the UFC to be underrated. We pretty much know where he is by now. RDR I really don't know. Maybe there is some truth to him being sick, because his cardio held up fine for 5 rounds just 3 months ago in a more strenuous fight with Whittaker, then a couple months later gassed after 1 round of top control and couldn't even stand after a few more rounds.

I think we need to wait for more of the story about RDR to come out.

It makes no sense how he managed 5 rounds against Whittaker in a far tougher fight yet faded after 1.5 rounds grappling with Brendan Allen. He was dominating Allen on the ground in the first round before he gassed.

RDR is an interesting fighter, he clearly has flaws and some people had him overrated after his win streak, his cardio was decent for Whittaker. I dunno, feel like the guy has been so active you kind of have to not write him off at one loss.

Allen I thought was the dark horse of the division, he still kind of might be. Imavov and Fluffy are the only ones that beat him recently, and plenty of people have Fluffy as the hope to beat Khamzat. Allen is a little over hated.

We'll see, MW contenders are dropping like flies as soon as a big line started piling up. First Caio, now RDR. Maybe they should fight each other and settle it.
