Anyone else feel kind of bad for Josh Emmett?

He was talking about feeling the best has in years, finally free of nagging injuries, and hoped to make one final run at the title.

At 40 years old, that may have been the end of his dream last night.

Guy always seemed to be near the cusp, but was just never able to cross the finish line.

Shame, because he's been one hell of an entertaining fighter over the years. Crazy big knockouts in so many fights. Always comes to throw down.
No why would I? DOES HE WANT TO BE A FUCKING FIGHTER!

He gave us Bryce KO'ed and convulsing. He will always hold a special place in my heart for that.

You never hear peak prime fighters saying stuff about recovering and being the best in their career, it's usually guys trying to psyche themselves into it. I feel bad he never got a title shot and probably won't ever now to get a chance to land one of his bombs to potentially win. If he's really in peak shape he'll return and KO a few guys in a comeback.

No, he wasted too much time and energy on useless td attempts

The real question is does anyone feel bad for the UFC who had to use a 40 year old FW for they main event? Talk about scraping the bottom of the diaper for some corn nuggets. Sheesh.

I know the Bryce KO is wildly loved on here (as it should be)
But his KO of Michael Johnson was a beaut' too

They're always feeling the best ever in their career etc
They aren't even consistent. After they lose they always change their tune and say "I had a terrible camp, with a lot of old injuries, etc."

Emmett just isn’t veratile enough.

He spends all fight trying to set up his right hand. Barely jabs, doesn’t throw combos or body shots.

Same thing happens in all of his fights against guys with good footwork and technical defense.

I’m still a fan and will tune in to watch him because he has produced some great KO’s, but he’s just not quite title material.

This. He has great power but when he fought Ilia you saw him fight a guy who has not only power but also technique and footwork. Rodriguez beat him all over the Octagon too.

He still has a great highlight reel though so there’s nothing to be ashamed of there.

Maybe if he'd tried cutting off the Octagon and throwing combos i would.

He telegraphs his punch even before he steps into the cage so no, not at all
