I bought one over the summer, and really enjoy it, although there is certainly alot of troubleshooting involved to make it run optimally.

You can play top of the line PC games and emulate Switch/ps3/xbox 360 games on it, and also just run it as a Windows PC

I reckon most people with a hand held are rocking a steam deck.

I've certainly been thinking about it, but my mortgage issue has left me feeling unsteady about my finances.

I'll probably just get myself a gaming PC when I get the keys, as well.

I got one for $400 and its def a nice alternative sometimes then bringin a laptop etc

Nah I've a PC, if I was gonna do handheld I'd just get a Switch

Yea but with a PC and steamdeck/ally you can continue playing the game you were playing on PC. With a switch you have to change to a new game. I don't do handheld anymore because once I leave my home I'm typically busy doing stuff and don't have time to play games but when I did it was the best thing about it.

PS and MS both need to get on this IMO. PS kind of did with the portal which IMO is impressive and really satisfies my needs most of the time since I can play at work sometimes.

ROG Ally has a £200 discount on Amazon. It's £399 now.

Honestly, I'm a bit gutted. I've put a hold on my spending due to the mortgage, but I would have snapped it up otherwise...

The Steam Deck is great for playing games in my backlog, especially lower fidelity/demanding titles. Like the Ally can do, it's also nice to be able to bring my library and save file with me on the road (on the toilet mainly) without having to use my laptop.

The problem with any PC handheld is the battery life if you're playing anything demanding. If you're not plugged in, pack a good powerbank.

M$ really needs to make a handheld/touch centric windows version, as it's terrible to navigate. I spent a decent chunk playing on the Aya Neo Air Pro, windows was so cumbersome. @HHJ how's your windows experience on the Ally?

Gotcha, just a different mindset for me cuz the Switch has exclusive games I want

Its not bad, it has its issues, and theres def some troubleshooting to be done to set it up optimally..

It can overheat when playing powerful games...but overall I love it.

Make sure you get the Ally X, and not the Ally. The orginal placed the SD card reader in a bad spot, they overheat, and fail.

What is the battery life on this one?

Also lol at the LGBT name.

I got that one. The ally.

It hasn't fried my card yet but I can believe it can happen.

The ally x is 600 tho not 400. I don't think I would buy any of these kinda things for 600

It's one of those things that I want but would never use. I know all about these things, I often buy them.

If you buy the $400 one, be prepared for the SD card reader to fail.

Key word, yet.

If you bought one before it was known, whatever. But to buy one now with a known hardware failure issue would be dumb.
