What consoles did you own?

1. Intellivision - dad bought it when it first came out because it was supposed to be better than the Atari. I was too young to enjoy it when it was new, but I had a lot of fun with it when I got older. Often playing that instead of my super Nintendo.

2. NES - got it for my birthday

3. Super Nintendo - I was 15 I think. I had a job cleaning a business and getting paid under the table. Saved up that money and bought it myself.

4. PlayStation - I wasn't going to jump into the next generation because I was happy with my SNES games. But when I saw resident evil 2 I was blown away. I found a used PS on Craigslist and bought it.

5. PlayStation 2 - same thing. Didn't want it, but then I saw the new smackdown game and had to have it

6. Wii - I bought it just to sell it at a higher price since there was a shortage. But I couldn't resist trying it out, and I fell in love and decided to keep it.

7. PS3 - I wanted it so I could play red dead redemption. But I was broke, just had a kid and couldn't afford it. They were 400 bucks at the time, plus I'd have to buy the game and a new TV because I didn't own an HD TV at the time. Luckily a buddy of mine needed help on a job, so I worked for him on that job and made enough to buy what I needed.

8. PS4 - I was introduced to XCOM on the PS3, and XCOM 2 was coming out so I had to buy a PS4 to play it. It was cheaper than buying a new PC.

9. Wii-U - this might have been before the PS4, I don't recall. But my son wanted it for Christmas so we got it for him.

10. Nintendo switch - again, present for my son.

5. PlayStation 2 - same thing. Didn't want it, but then I saw the new smackdown game and had to have it

The N64 was my first console I owned that wasn't shared. It was the only console that gen I owned then going forward I got every console that came out from the PS2/GC/Xbox era onward except for the xbox consoles, which I dropped after 360 for obvious reasons. No interesting story's behind any of the console acquisitions aside from maybe the 360 which my step brother bought for me because he was mad I got a Wii instead and wanted to be able to game online with me.

NES-Genesis-Saturn-PS1-PS2, then all of the big consoles until this generation. Only own a PS5 now

Of them all my favorite to look back on was the Saturn. So many great and unique games on it. It’s too bad it didn’t sell better

NES (1989), SNES (1991) Gameboy (1996), N64 (1998), PSX (1999), Xbox (2005), Xbox 360 (2006), OculusGo (2018), Switch (2021), Xbox S (2022). The longer gaps are bc of criminal mischief.

I still have everything from the Playstation on down.

SNES was my first, it was really my older brother's console but I played it a ton. Got the N64 and PS1 and a Game Boy Advance, then the PS2 and GameCube. Went back after this and bought a Dreamcast and NES for collector's purposes and nostalgia value. Got out of gaming for a stretch, and when I came back I went to PC. But I still have all my old consoles in the closet next to me.

I was lucky to go from Ice cream shop Mario to Starcraft.

Knowing Jaguar and 3DO while not knowing shit about handheld makes this stuff fun.

Tiger Electronics Star Wars game - not a console really, but it was my first video game. It was a plastic tank with a Star Wars game that had 5 levels (not that I knew at the time), but I don't think I got past level 3. I remember played it in the car, parked on the street outside the registry office of my uncle's wedding, when I was 5yo.

Purple Gameboy Color - I first saw this at daycare, where my future close friend was playing Godzilla/Pokemon Red and let another kid try but wouldn't let me try even when we found out we were from the same street! Got it for my 7th bday in 2000, was the most hype present I remember getting. Pokemon Blue and Power Rangers were my first games, then I remember Pokemon Yellow, Crystal and I had those "50 games in 1" cartridges that were just 25 games, mostly being NES ports, with the titles and maybe colours swapped to make it into "50 games". I remember playing Pokemon in the car at night, waiting for the next streetlight so I could see the screen.

PS2 - got it as a belated 8th bday present in 2001 and still was my main console in 2014. We only had one TV and my dad hated me gaming (even though he'd get me consoles) and only let me play 20-30 min per week (and in the summer holidays would disconnect it while I was home alone lol. Instead I just watched crappy daytime TV shows like Diagnosis Murder and Cash In the Attic), so I mostly played when he wasn't in and quickly turned it off when I heard him getting home so he wouldn't hit me lol. Then my dad got me FIFA 2004, which he didn't mind me playing as much since it was sports. Fave games were fifa 04&06, The Adventures of Cookies and Cream (it was a two-player-only game based on teamwork, so I couldn't play it unless a friend came around, but every friend who tried it loved it), Spongebob w/ the Flying Dutchman, Simpsons Hit and Run, Tony Hawk 3 and Burnout 3. The last time I played was in 2016, when I bought Oni for £2 to take turns with a friend. I actually had two PS2s, because my first had the infamous disc read error. Both were chipped, so I could play PAL and NTSC-U games.

Gameboy Advance - all the great GBC games, but I don't remember any great GBA games, but it was a good console (and I've played good GBA games on emulators). Pokemon Sapphire I unironically stopped playing due to "too much water". The worst game I've ever had may be Legacy of Goku 1, which even the developers acknowledged as a poor game. I don't remember when I got a GBA, but I was less than 11yo. I had a blue protective case.

Dreamcast - when I was 8yo me and my dad moved to the US for a year (where I got my first PS2). There I often went to my neighbour's (three teens) after school while my dad was at work and we played their Dreamcast, they treated me like a little brother. Sonic Adventure 1 was amazing at the time and I was the first to beat Perfect Chaos as we took turns, which is one of my best memories. When I came back to the UK my PS2 didn't work so my dad got me a Dreamcast. I had SA1, a demo disc and Chu Chu Rocket. On the demo disc was a boxing game (R2R), which my mum once played with me and she actually beat me lol, which was annoying.

Gameboy Advance SP - my mum's brother had this and didn't use it much, so he mailed it to me. It's the same as an Advance, except it's foldable. I didn't use it much.

PSP - I played it at night in bed a lot, especially some unrealistic soccer game, and a Formula 1 game. Not as legendary as the Gameboys, but a decent portable.

Nintendo Wii - got it around 14yo, in 2008. At least in my school, this was the console nobody really thought was cool compared to the 360 or PS3, but it was cheaper and my dad preferred the idea of it being exercise. Best game was definitely DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3. A lot of fun.

PS4 - first console I bought myself, in 2017, two years after escaping "home". Definitely the best home console for me. First console where I used online. It also doubled up as youtube and browser until I got a PC again, for watching music videos, bass guitar tutorials and tv shows/movies. 10/10.

Had a friend growing up that was adopted from Korea, and his parents were both Pfizer scientists so they were pretty well off... they bought him and his brother almost every console under the sun. First time playing both the Neo Geo handheld and console was at his place.

Atari 2600
NES
Sega Master System
Genesis / Sega CD
Turbo Grafx/ CD
Super Nintendo
3DO
PlayStation
PlayStation 2
PlayStation 3
Dreamcast
XBOX
XBOX360
XBOXseries X……….

The one off beat system I almost got was SuperGrafx ( Japan ) the failed Turbo Grafx next gen console just to play a better version of Ghouls and Ghosts . The consoles I didn’t get was due to just to expensive at time like the NEO GEO though 3DO was 700 dollars I only got it bc my older brother had the big bucks and I was never into those big arcade sticks . I Atari Panther and GameCube never took a real interest in ,

I’m waiting for PlayStation 6 and the next XBOX to get back into playing game’s regularly again I want to be wowed , the current technology isn’t there for me I want to to feel like the first time I played Altered Beast for the Genesis going from 8 bit to 16 bit that graphics jump .I think the next gen will be it .

NES, Sega Master System (underrated), Turbo Graphix 16, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, Game Gear, GBA, GBC, 32X, Sega CD, Sega Saturn, N64, PSOne, Xbox, Dreamcast, PS2, 360, Wii, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, XSX, PS5

Didn't own too many. Went NES -> Genesis -> Gameboy -> ps2, 3, 4, 5.

My dad smashed the shit out of my NES and Gameboy because I was always playing it and not studying 🤣

Anyone remember the computer brand, Tandy? I remember that was my first PC...guessing in middle school. I don't think I had any games on it other than Hangman (which I think came with it).

Atari 2600 (bought by Dad in 1980 this started it all!)
NES (received for Christmas 1985)
SNES (received for Christmas 1991)
Sega Genesis (traded SNES for it)
Sega Saturn. Traded some hockey cards for it.
Dreamcast (bought) Still has until couple years ago I finally sold it.

Gamecube (bought)
XBox (bought)
PS2 (bought)
Xbox 360 (bought)
PS3 (bought)
PS4 (bought)
Nintendo Switch (bought for kids)
PS5 (bought) (still own and use)

When I was a kid we had an NES, then SNES then N64. After playing the PS1 at a few different friends places i switch to PS and it just been PS2, PS3, PS4, PS5.

When the N64 came out I didn't even know what a Playstation was but after seeing games like Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, FF7 and so forth I realized there was a whole other world of games out there and changed what I wanted to play.
