Any advice for a new Mass Effect player.

I had this game for a long time but I never played it. I booted it up yesterday and played a little of legendary edition ME1. It feels a bit dated and the shooting is a bit clunky.

The first game feels the most dated but it more than makes up for it with it's story, characters and dialogue.

The gameplay of the first game sucks. Hell, it did when it originally came out. They hadn't figured out how to blend shooter and RPG yet. But it's a necessary playthrough, it's got a lot of story and world building. Definitely pick a biotic character, it's more fun that way.

Kinda wish they included multiplayer with the Legendary Edition of ME3. Spent so many hours grinding, back in the day. Strangely multiplayer is still online with the PS3 version with a somewhat active community.

Is the game supposed to be short? I played a few main missions in ME1 and it seemed like I am at the end of the game. I have tons of side missions that I didn't even try though.

What is currently happening in the main story for you? What have you done so far?

Do the side missions though, there will be characters you can meet again in the next 2 games depending on the choices you made in the first game.

I killed this matriarch, saved her daughter and kill some plant monster. I think it's race against time now? It seems like I am nearing the end of the game because I can max out certain stats now. I still haven't bought any items.

I do have tons of side quests that I didn't even crack yet.

I think my original run topped out at 40 hours, and that was with doing all the side missions and exploring every section fully. So yeah, it could be considered a bit short from the standard 60+ hour RPG. It could probably be beaten in under 30 hours, if you just ran through the campaign.

Yeah that's nearing the end game for sure but do the side quests, it's worth it

Also if you haven't already, punch the reporter

I've run through the whole game (minus DLC) in about 22 hours multiple times. If I talk to everyone as much as I think I reached like 25-27 hours. It's actually a pretty short game and I wish we got more of that.

Yes. I ran into game breaking bugs most likely caused by the 3rd party mods I installed. I really thought I could have my cake and eat it too.
I uninstalled everything and did a wipe on my computer because I was pissed.
BG3 keeps calling me.

Will you be able to still use your ME2 save for the beginning of ME3?

Yes, all is not lost and I will go back.
I got burned out trying to play all three games in a short perioud of time and mad that it was occupying so much of my hard drive while I was trying to enjoy other media that needed the space, like watching Masters of The Sky without an Apple TV sub.(Toatally recommend if you are into WW2 stuff. Forgotten tale of the plight of B-17 pilots and crew)

Game is old and kinda clunky but I like it. I got the legendary edition a while back and I want to play through it.
I'm about 30 hours in and I feel like I don't really know how to play the game. I don't really understand how to use the powers in combat especially concerning my squad mates.
I installed a bunch of mods that seem to be the agreed upon as the best way to play the game.
I bought the pack with all the ME games and I couldn't make it thru the first city. You had to walk around and talk to people. It was kinda like a tutorial to get you around the city. I gave up there. Too complicated. I felt lost and didn't know what to do, plus the layout of the city made no sense.

I like how games like Final Fantasy does cities and NPCs. So much easier to navigate and get info.
