Anthony Joshua is now by far the biggest star in combat sports, Conor not even close

This is true. Conor is a C-level athlete at best, while Joshua is an A+++ one. Good thread

Conor's biggest triumph was against a chinny club fighter D-level athlete while Joshua beat a top 10 HW ATG and a future hall of fame legend who is also an A+++ level athlete.

2 division champ vs 1 division champ.

Beating the (at the time) p4p #1 in 13 seconds vs. struggling with an old timer.

It's not that simple.

Conor is not even a paper champ. His belts were given to him by his promoter. Conor's titles are as legitimate as if Eddie Hearn gave Joshua some imaginary belts that he himself made up. Joshua won legitimate titles from independent sanctioning bodies of the sport.

Appropriate username since the rules of modern day boxing were formulated by 19C aristocrats and reflect the world view of 19C English toffs.

In the same way Pankration was excluded from the revived Olympics at the behest of Baron de Coubertin and chums

Indeed. Thanks for pointing that out. Boxing is a much more aristocratic sport between the two.

I think we need to trust the wisdom and judgement of these two great noble men. How can UFC rules be superior when they were created by lesser men?

lol wut

After the epic monumental fight between Anthony Joshua and the ATG Wladimir Klitschko I think there is no doubt that Joshua is now the biggest star not only in boxing but in all of combat sports.

The unprecedented 90.000 crowd at sold out Webley speaks for itself. McGregor was never even close to the global popularity Joshua has now. I come from Central Europe and hardly anyone knows Conor or ever spoke about him. After the Joshua vs Klitschko fight literally everybody asked me about it and talked about Joshua.

Joshua is also much bigger star in the British isles than Conor can ever hope to be. The fight also generated huge attention in the USA despite the time difference. In this fight alone Joshua earned more money than Conor earned in his entire career. Also the ceiling for AJ is way higher than for Conor. Anthony Joshua is an elite A+++ level athlete and a rare specimen. Intimidating athletic heavyweights like him will always will always be the top draws in combat sports.

If Floyd and Joshua were in the same weight division in boxing, Joshua would be the A-side now and the fight would take place in England.

I think it's hilarious how only months ago Conor fans were claiming that Conor is now bigger than any boxing star and how boxing is dead since MayPac. Now they're humbled as their boy has been doing nothing but getting drunk out of his mind for months and fantasizing about some fights that we all know won't happen while Joshua is taking over the game.

Welcome the new king of the combat sports:

Joshua most certainly is a HW boxing legend for sure, but Conor has nothing to do with boxing. So uhh ya

No TV network would even think of putting on that much blood in the earlier days, which is why boxing got so popular, from what I understand. It's a fighting sport with limited amount of blood but heavy ass hits and knockdowns.
So many things wrong in just a couple of sentences.

Good rule of thumb: Don't talk about things when you don't know WTF you are talking about.

they are doing the Rousey .

UFC belt is a belt given to you by your promoter. It's not a real title like IBF or WBA titles that Joshua won which are independent sanctioning bodies which set rankings and mandatory title fights.

By your logic Eddie Hearn (Joshua's promoter) could have invented some title of his own and crowned Joshua the super-heavyweight world champ or something like this and it would be legit.

Y make the comparison. There two different sports. I've always loved boxing and MMA but what it comes down to is Connor sells himself alot better than pretty much anyone else. There both just getting started. Wilder gonna fuck up AJ also.

and why exactly is joshua an " A +++ " level athlete? because he's big and and muscular and can throw punches? why is wlad?

you __ level athlete dorks are so annoying, you have no idea if someone is an " A level athlete " from such a limited sport like boxing.

Joshua dominating.

AJ is a better athlete and carries himself well. He is the bigger star and appeals to more people worldwide.

He's an Olympic Gold medalist. Educate yourself.

Klitschko is old now
I mean even Tyson fury had the best of him...

to be fair, that fight was pretty shitty with neither side doing anything. people should've been throwing trash in the ring

Lol at comparing them by Instagram followers. That might be the saddest post I see on the board today

If the goal of the thread is to see who the biggest "star" is out of the 2 of them, what other tools would you use other than social media, ppv buys etc?
