antarctic ice melt now irreversible scientists say

Sure, instead of trying to prevent this, let's just cross our fingers and hope we find a way to prevent the rise in water. Great!

Well, if its irreversible, then we r a little late for prevention, eh?

Yeah, because we ignored scientists and kept going on our stupid ways when we COULD have prevented this ten years ago... now we're just going to step up to the plate NOW. Yeah, that's gonna happen.

Sorry, I'm pretty pessimistic.

Get a grip.

Yea, what could we have done 10 years ago to stop this?

We gonna get china to go along, India, Any of the other developing countries?

What, were we gonna stop driving cars, producing electricity, etc.

What could we have done in 10 years that would of had an effect at all?

Even if there is danger, they are going to blow it out of proportion and scare people. That's how people are manipulated, for better or for worse.

It's just like the war on terrorism. They'd have you checking under your bed before turning the light out if they could.

invest in desalination plants and trade water for oil with the arabs

they said this so many times, i'd like to think we are under water
No, I don't recall this being the consensus. They've been warning us that if we didn't change our habits that we would realize it, and I thought most estimates were putting that date, accounting for the widest outliers, anywhere between 2016-2050. Fortunately, I'll probably get to live out my life without too many consequences. Future generations will have to adapt. It'll just be business-as-usual if it's the life they're born into, but it's too bad, and it's a hardship they shouldn't have to endure.

Hopefully, they're wrong, and we still have time.

Why desalination plants? Dont we have enough already? Why would we need more if the water level rises or if the earth gets warmer?

I didn't say we, I mentioned the middle east

I can't really get past the data that shows it's been hotter in history many times. I like clean energy though, waiting for the hydrogen car and stuff.

What if we had "done something" back when global cooling was the scare? Where would we be now?

This is what happens when business minded people are chosen to run a world. You need intelligent people not business minded people they are last on the totem pole of importance. We have to protect the planet first, security and law, then business finally. Unfortunately we have it backwards at this moment.

business minded people running things now... hah, totalitarian minded, not business minded

now that he has all you drones fired up:

The EPA will launch the most dramatic anti-pollution regulation in a generation early next month, a sweeping crackdown on carbon that offers President Barack Obama his last real shot at a legacy on climate change

Good. When do I get my Inland Empire beachfront property?

There are many, many factors in determining what the truth is.

The Club of Rome talked about using climate change to act as an external enemy to unite people (similar to how the war on terror works to scare people) back in the 90's. You can count on a steady stream of scare tactics because that is the formula they always use to bring about changes in societies thinking and behavior.

Also, geo engineering has been being worked on for a very long time.

Without a doubt the whole thing is political, but the only question remaining is that what is causing the climate changes and how much of it is scare tactics and how much is legit.

almost certainly no one has created climate change intentionally. and no one needs to exaggerate it. it is right in front of many community's faces. are various political groups trying to take advantage of the situation? i have no doubt. that is the case with anything, though. i feel the same way about 9/11. it wasnt an inside job, but once it went down, various groups tried to benefit from it.

people who see shit like this every day likely are not questioning the legitimacy of climate change now.

its just common sense. if you piss in your pool every day for a few weeks, is anyone going to be shocked when the pool's water chemistry is off? nah. pump the atmosphere full of chemicals that normally wouldnt be there in that percentage, and why would you be shocked that things change?
