If she loved GotG, I'm sure she's going to like Ant-Man. She might be a bit antsy (pun intended) with the first 30 minutes but once Scott suits up and shrinks down, she'll probably have a blast.
 
I'm trying to get a bead on where I'd draw a line for what's appropriate for kids of that age. I think Avengers is fine and I let my six year old nephews watch it the other day but I told them to keep it under their hats because if they haven't watched it with their parents already, it's because they don't think it's age appropriate.

I usually try to respect that kind of stuff but I think it's oddly myopic of them to let the kids watch the Star Wars movies since they were 3-4 years old, along with really intense violence in the Clone Wars TV series, then turn around and be skeptical about MCU movies.

I think Guardians might be next for the next cool movie with Uncle Dough/secret from the folks next time I have them for a week/weekend. I think I might skip the part with Rocket and Drax drunk in the bar tho, like I skipped Loki and Widow's scene in Avengers.
 
There is no need to skip any parts of you sit with the kids and explain the concepts of fiction and appropriate conflict resolution.

But what I would recommend, Doughy, is that you not tell the kids to lie to their parents. That is far far FAR more destructive to them than any violent movie could be.

I knew that was coming when I wrote that, but honestly, I don't see the harm in it because it's a matter of degrees. To me, this is on me letting them eat ice cream at inappropriate times of the day, stay up a little past bedtime, play video games on weekdays and then telling them not to tell on me.

Besides which, I'm not without forethought. :P I did tell them not to tell say that we had a movie night with Avengers, but not to lie if they were asked. My reasoning is that the kids are terrible at keeping secrets, so I'm going to be found out one way or another anyway.

I realize that parents might feel a little sketched out by this, but IMO, it's natural for me as an uncle to have a different set of boundaries regarding permissiveness and since their folks aren't helicopter parents with a long list of do's and dont's, it's more or less implicit that they're going to have to trust my judgment about stuff they're not going to know about so long as I'm not going directly against a know parental directive or something.
 
I enjoyed this more than Age of Ultron.

Well...look what we have here, it now sits at 80% as if someone called ahead of time.

A good too the point story. Been a while since Marvel had one of those with these Infinity Gems and what not. Everyone in the movie did well, Rudd and Pena had me laughing throughout. Evangeline is a much better bug than elf. I love me some training montage (that is why Rocky 4 is the best that series has) I was satisfied with this one. As DL mentioned the score was pretty flat, that was what I felt Edgar Wright would have done best since his choice of music is pretty spot on. I like how Cross was just the more maniac Hank Pym, you see you do get a young crazy Hank. Thomas the Tank Engine shall haunt my dreams.

The credits scenes were my favorite of the Phase 2 movies. Called who would be in both but the topic of the 2nd was even more than I expected.


 
Really enjoyed it. More than Age of Ultron. Everyone in the theater was into it which is always a good sign. Rudd, Lily, Pena, and Douglas were all on point. Cross was a more intimidating villain then sarcastic quip machine. 8/10.

I hear Ant-Man was pretty good

Marvel has done a pretty damn good job with their universe. Except for Captain America 1 (which was corny) it has been great.
Captain America 2 was fantastic though.

Cap 1 is arguably the best Phase 1 movie excluding The Avengers.

Iron Man still holds that mantle, imo.

What makes you say that? Its just my personal opinion. It had an amazing premise but I felt like they wasted it with their approach.

Nah, most of their movies have been mediocre.
