During the lead up to and after the Diaz trilogy he’ll also spout a bunch of nonsense about how he’s still the champ at 145 and 155 until Holloway/tony/khabib beats him, while simultaneously never making an effort to fight any of them.

he IS retired.
IMO his biggest fight is to wrestle up this decision of staying retired or coming back.

IMO he is waiting for an easy opportunity, like if Floyd really decide to fight him in the cage, or Khabib/Tony get injured and the other schedule another fight, so he is free to "come back" and fight Diaz... something like that.

The only other reason might be his lifestyle demands more money, and as such he will be forced to come back and take whatever fight UFC pushes him to fight (for the most money he can make)
