Anime and Manga v40: Repeated Thread Necromancy Edition

Watching fairytale and goblin slayer, and assassinion classroom

No love for Magic Knight Rayearth? One of the biggest plot twist in anime. Actually, the 1st anime that I saw that had a plot wist that changed everything.

I remember watching that anime as a kid and had zero clue wtf was going on.

Only reason i watched because nova was hot lol

Hey everyone, thanks for the shout out. Hope everyone had a merry Xmas. I'm still lurking around sherdog, reading stuff when I can. Rewatching Full metal alchemist brotherhood right now just for the heck of it. wanted to binge yu yu hakusho but prime doesn't have it ;(

Isn't Berserk on hiatus again?

I can't keep up anymore.
Isn't it always? I don't even bother keeping tabs on it anymore. Once a year I check to see if Dark Horse put out the next english volume or not. If they did, I buy it. If not...well, it's time to wait for next year. This year was a treat! A new volume and a data book! And next year they start putting out premium editions, so I guess I'll be buying the whole series all over again.

I just started my end-of-the-year spreadsheet summary and it's looking grim. I may have read less manga than any year since I started back in 2009. And if I'm looking at my bookmarks correctly I tried less than a dozen new series this year. To put that in context, from 2010-2017 I averaged around 130 new series a year.

Woah, that’s a sharp drop man.

Do you usually finish all the new series you read or if it’s terrible do you just drop it?

Guessing anime watching has gone down too?

Busier schedule or lack of interest?

I try and give stuff a volume worth of material to grab me. But if it really sucks I'll dump it after one or two chapters. And a lot of the stuff I end up trying aren't ongoing projects so there's a limited number of chapters available anyways. I'd say I finish (or read all available chapters of) about...~15% of the series I start. But I'll also try almost anything even if it's a genre I normally don't like which contributes to the dumping-rate.

I haven't watched a single new episode of anime in probably close to a decade. No, scratch that, I watched a couple episodes of DBS on Toonami last month and when I realized the pacing was glacial I gave up. In general it's just too much of a time-sink compared to reading. What you can read in 15 minutes might take an anime 4 episodes to cover.

Busier schedule or lack of interest?
Tough to say. I still have a half-dozen or so series I read every week and a list of about 60 others that have monthly/irregular updates that I check in on every month or so. And I bought a whole bunch of physical manga this year (about 40 volumes worth; the Battle Angel Alita Deluxe Editions and the Akira 35th Anniversary Box Set are fantastic, btw). So it's not like I've dumped the medium.

I think I just got sick of all the garbage. Sooooooo much garbage.

Just finished the spreadsheet update. Yup, this is officially the least I have read in a decade. Only six new series and a pitiful 53.2k pages (a good chunk of that comes from rereading Tower of God, King Golf, and Onepunch Man). In 2013, my most productive reading year, I tried 336 new series and plowed through 202.6k pages (unemployment and crushing depression gives you a lot of free time).

Peerless Dad just got an insane amount of uploads!

Good and bad. Good because I like the series and bad because they caught up to the Raws.

Pretty simple story. But I love a good action/Martial arts story.
I bookmarked this and finally got around to giving it a shot. Pretty good. Its interesting that the white haired old dude is the same one from Red Storm (which started out pretty decent but the last year or so of chapters sucked and I ended up dropping it).

Dragon Ball Super Broly

Visually stunning , hands the Down the prettiest Dragon Ball has ever looked.

Story was subpar , and some of Jokes and subplots sucked. I liked this Version of Broly and look forward to what else they have in store.

Been using these Otaku threads to get great anime suggestions, so far so good. Now I need some recommendations Looking for something. Looking for a romance where a normal dude falls for some chick who is clearly different. Like she is like a monster or demon or something like that. Good action would be great as well. Also, T&A is appreciated as I need more files for my spank bank.

Monster musume.

Anyone feels that Floyd VS Tenshin's fight is kind of like plot twist in Manga/Anime?

With the protagonist getting hyped up to be the best for a few episodes, only to get smacked back to earth by a low-key villain. This is Ippo VS Ricardo Martinez shit.

Monster musume.
Found the uncensored version and am watching the first episode. I know it's going to be a cheese fest but I am loving it already. So given that this is so short, are there any other demon/monster girl romances out there that are worth watching?
