Anime and Manga v37

@heavyarms21 Yeah it's still pretty awesome. Since we're on the subject...

My top 5 favorite Toriko fights.

5. Salamander Sphinx vs Toriko and Zebra.
latest
The heavenly kings take on the hard task of collecting the mellow cola. The only problem is that the Salamander Sphinx holds the key to the cola. Alone they stand no chance but as a combo they are up for the task.

4.Midora vs Ichiryu
latest
A battle of two titans. The winner takes all. The changing point of the manga. Both geared to counter each other but Midora has grown powerful over the years. Ichiryu will not go down without giving his brother hell.

3. Toriko vs Starjun
latest
A battle we were anticipating since their first encounter when Star was handicapped by the gt robo. Toriko is furious and Starjun looks forward to the challenge.

2. Coco vs Livebearer

3341242-89.jpg
A fight with wits rather than brawn. Livebearer and Coco engage in a deadly game of cards. Livebearer holds every advantage and isn't above cheating. Coco remains cool and knows something Livebearer doesn't.

1. Toriko vs Tommyrod

You know it was coming. These two throw down in an old fashion brawl. Body parts go flying and blood spills everywhere. Nothing better then watching two guys slugging it out with everything they got.

It was pretty Boss of Teppei to take Tommyrod down with precise knocking movements too , granted Tommy was worn down from facing Toriko.

Shame we don't see more of him in action. Yeah we got bits and pieces but not a full course of him. When we were given the vision where Joie cooked him, my heart skipped a beat. Imagine if he was actually killed so early on?

I thought that was great slight of hand by the mangaka , also was a hint of the approaching dread.

So I was glancing through the old threads. Man...some of them got finished in 2 weeks! Usually on average a month. It seems One Piece always opened the flood gates for discussion. There were a lot more regulars too... (project, AKIRA, jester, gopackgo, etc...)

One Piece is without a doubt going down as one of greatest manga ever. Oda puts in so much detail and his notes are filled with so much information. From ship designs to random reoccurring background characters( pandaman and tomato gang).

Out of the former big 3 ( Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece). It still holds strong. Oda is very careful with his work. When the conclusion sadly comes one day...I trust we won't be disappointed.

Jester us still around , floating in other Threads. Yeah less activity here than what it used to be.

I can only assume the worst. They watched School Days and were petrified into stone by its perfection. No longer able to sherdog. The worst fate imaginable.

That's right lurkers. School Days is the Citizan Kane of manga/anime.

I've got a spreadsheet with this sort of data in it. Threads #10-30 averaged 37 days. The fastest was #23 at just 13 days. The slowest was #36 at 316. Something changed back at the start of 2015. Threads #34-36 went 77, 211, 316 days. We are at 97 for this thread so far and at this pace will fill it at 155 days.

Basically, the next time a thread takes 200+ days to fill will be the time I call it quits and stop making new threads.

Oh, also: last week was our six year anniversary for the topic. Thread #1 started on 9/23/2010.

Interesting. I'm not sure when the first thread was created(all I get is an error). Edit: (Oh I see your edit.)Pretty sure I started posting in these threads 3 years ago so about v15 and up? Possibly earlier but not as frequent.

Not really sure what happened. Bleach and Naruto ending and turning into nightmares may have turned casuals away. Oh well.

Geez 3 years went by fast! Along with these threads until recent. I appreciate you sticking with it. I'll always enjoy manga/anime. I hope everyone else old/new who posted will too.

...bang.

In assuming that some of the earliest versions of this thread were purged when the Forum updated.

The early threads got deleted at some point. It actually happened some time before the software migration. I remember wanting to check something and the link coming back dead.

I think that Bleach and Naruto turning to crap definitely hurt the regular discussion. Breaker ending as well killed some of the weekly discussion as well. So the regular talk was reduced and no new series really picked it back up. I tried to keep interesting going with stuff like Shokugeki no Soma, Kingdom, and Tower of God, but eventually I was just talking to myself on that and gave up.

Ah, Tower of God. I started reading that non stop when it first came out. But now I'm so far behind and I haven't picked it up in awhile. All I remember is that I hated the character Rachel. Not sure how she developed...I do also remember Mule Love.

Never got into Soma. In terms of other web comics I do keep up with Noblesse.

I'll give tower another go.

Lots of big name series turning to crap or ending for sure hurt things. There have been some new series that have come by and have been good, but nothing to fill in the gaping holes left by the ones that left and drive discussion like they did.

Edit: Will pick up Shokugeki no Soma to converse with you JBS. Just please, don't away our safe place. :(

I've been so behind on Food porn lately, have no idea whats going on. I think even if the threads taking awhile someone should keep making them (even if it has to me) because though I don't post as much as I should I check the thread pretty often. a lot of the good stuff/medicore stuff ending hurt this place also a few of the regulars got banned, which didn't help at all. You just gotta fall in love with One piece JBS :)

on an un-related note Yusuke Murata streams on Ustream, drawing one punch man of course..kinda fun to watch especially if you wanna see a blank page go to the things we know and love.

Ah, OP. Tried reading it weekly. Tried reading it monthly. Tried reading it in six month chunks. Tried reading it in yearly blocks.

Nope. I can't handle how bloated it's become and the effect it's had on the pacing. And it seems to get worse with every arc.

Really looking forward to seeing Sanji show his family just how much stronger than them he really is

Said it before...Sanji needs to shine bright.

I wish Breaker would come back...starting to question if part 3 will actually ever come. feels like it's been awhile

Don't hold your breath. Trinity Wonder is only just getting rolling and doesn't look like it'll end any time soon. So far it's got some cool technical design and it's pretty to look at...but the characters aren't all that engaging at this point.

Same and agree. Been meaning to ask where your AV is from.

I VERY MUCH want to see Sanji be the one to take down his siblings(except for Reiju whom I think will either fight Nami or have a Heel-Face Turn causing her to fight the brothers and possibly lose do to 3 vs 1) and eventually be the one to overthrow his dad.
