Anime and Manga v37

Everybody should be reading Golden Kamuy and Oldboy. In case it's not obvious, yes JBS this is a request for reviews. They're awesome reads tho.
I added Golden Kamuy to my reading list when you brought it up at the end of v36. I'm about a volume into it now. It's ok so far, but the proportions of the ainu kid are weird; she's almost like a dwarf. I don't think the author sketches her skeleton before drawing out that huge coat because there's some really funky positions.

I REALLY need to watch Macross. I used to watch Robotech back when they aired it on Cartoon Network and I fucking HATE IT with a passion now since it means we got cheated out of ever having that dubbed over here.

Yeah I was on a nostalgic kick a while back and had been originally exposed to Robotech back in the 80's so I decided to rewatch it.

But if you do decide to watch the show at some point, do yourself a favor and watch SDF Macross instead of Robotech. Robotech took the original anime and changed the premise entirely, and re-edited the footage all out of sequence so they could tell whatever story they wanted to tell. Whereas SDF Macross is the unmolested superior version of the original story.

I'd been watching all the Gundam shows from 1979 up, and Macross was a breath of fresh air from Gundam's politics and horrors of war. It had of course the grim war story of most mech anime, but also had plenty of comedy and a love triangle that distinguished it from Gundam. The art style hasn't aged well by today's standards but I can look past that since the story is so good.

Mobile Suit Gundam's animation is equally dated but the story is so rich, and the characters are so well fleshed-out that it is one of my absolute favorites of all time. When the show ended I felt a pinge of sadness that the journey on which I'd followed the characters had come to an end.

Oh I know. It's another reason why I fucking hate it. And I agree about the Macross assessment. Funny thing is that the whole concept started as parody of Gundam and it evolved into what it was.

Edit: JBS, there was a manga you really did not like that was about a manga assistant lady who kept getting drunk and would behave in ridiculous ways. What was the title of it?

Edit 2: NVM. Found it.

I hate myself, been reading OP Reddit's threads like the TV Tropes website.... and got hung up on a thread about Zoro's eye.

I know a ton of people online at least believe Zoro is hiding something with his eye like some secret power up or some such bullshit. Others also think he may just be blind but my question is why doesn't he keep it open (plus I think Oda would have Zoro's eye open as it creates a contrast between a dead eye that is grayed out and his standard healthy right eye)

Anyone else like me and think he keeps it closed to fuck with his depth perception to make it more fun to fight? ONe thing I noticed was a lot of his post timeskip fights he's smiling constantly the way Kubo makes Kenpachi smile when he's fighting and we all know what that guy does to make a fight more enjoyable.

he has bankai behind the eyepatch mystery solved, your welcome.

You people need to red Golden Kamuy and Oldboy. Awesome as all fucking hell.

Yes...also being a HxH reader must be fucking awful, it's supposedly about to go on another hiatus.

Do you fellas know of any animes that are like Ore Monogatari? Idk, something just very sweet and cheerful and kinda funny?
Gonna check out Akagami no Shirayukihime and Himouto! Umaru-chan soon, hoping theyll be cute n fun x:

No prob. When you have a combination of lots of free time and violent and aggressive anger issue and occasional bouts of depression, finding and reading stuff like this helps a great deal...Plus they're are actually very, very, good. :)

Edit: That and I'm very big on people expanding their entertainment pallet and try reading stuff that's different from the usual.

yeah, i feel you on that. i like watching cutesy lighthearted things when im depressed, idk its soothing and makes me feel better. tho its like, "damn, why cant my world be like this" lol xD

you must get a lot of reading/watching done during that free time to be making lists like that o:

And these are just the ones I keep track of most often. A few of them like Inertia 67%, Kanojo wa Kannou, and a few others delve more into ecchi romcom territory and others like Super Gals and Love Complex(which has actually won several awards) tackle several complex issues(won't mention since spoilers) while still maintaining a humorous atmosphere.

I've never watched or read Beserk. Guess I'll give it a shot... or start watching Fairy Tail.

Edit: I can't spell.
