It's amazing that Leiji Matsumoto's manga classic Space Pirate Captain Harlock has never been adapted for the big screen before. The original run occurred way back in the late 70s, and it was adapted for television a few times, but now a feature film is coming to cinemas thanks to Appleseed director Shinji Aramaki, and it looks pretty incredible. Toei Animation shelled out the largest budget in their history for it, and the results speak for themselves.

Written by Mobile Suit Gundam UC's Harutoshi Fukui and featuring some impressive CG-animated space battles, the film follows the titular Captain who rebels against an inept government and becomes a space pirate, defending humanity against oppression. The trailer's dubbed in English so you should have no trouble keeping up. Space Pirate Captain Harlock opens in Japan this fall, and hopefully will hit U.S. shores soon after.

Starting to read "Freesia" Its very interesting, i like the art and the story that i believe its trying to show us.

Anyone got anything to say about this manga?

^ I tried it but couldn't get into it. I really liked the artwork, but the way the author adds in the really bizzare sex stuff was too off-putting for me. He's got another series (Uncivilized Planet) that was the same way.

I have two naruto volumes, forest of death part, that I got for Christmas 6/7 years ago. No clue why I got them because I didn't ask for them and I was almost strictly anime at the time. In fact I don't think I was reading any manga

I watched the anime and it's pretty much Final Destination. Unintentionally funny.

Yeah it's my favorite manga, I think it's brilliant tbh. I'm not quite as fond of the other stuff by Matsumoto, even more graphic and sexual stuff with weaker stories and characters but Freesia blew my mind. Not everyone likes the art but I think it's great, the action is great, the characters are incredible, Kano, the nice enforcer that get tougher as the story progresses, the female enforcer, the bully and so on.

Winter is really weak. I've picked up two shows this season that I wasn't planning on watching. GJ-Bu is okay, a cute series kinda like Setokai no Ichizon, but nothing remotely memorable. Just a time waste.

Kotoura-san is total shit, though. The only good thing about it is the male MC has balls. The story is stupid, and there is unnecessary plot devices to keep beating the same point in. Also, the change between serious drama to ecchi comedy isn't very well done.

might sound crazy , but there are actually people, who spend money on things they like and support the manga companies and mangakas.

Mostly i just buy the manga when i already read the whole thing or heard very good things about it , but sometimes i just buy 1 or 2 volumes of some random manga i barely heard of.
